Spectral ParchmentsFollow

#1 Jul 11 2005 at 9:21 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone else having an issue collecting these Spectral Parchments? Seems SOE made them WAY to rare.

Any suggestions on getting them would be appreciated.

Yeah spectrals are kinda rare if you're not hitting PoP raid targets often. Where are you hunting? Might wanna give Tactics a shot. IIRC the named mobs there seem to drop the spectrals more often than PoV/PoS/HoH

Best luck I have had is in BoT but getting a group there is really tough. And once you have the group you have to win the roll...

Still dont know why they made it so hard just to get your spells.

You think spectrals are hard, wait until you go for runes for your 69 and 70 spells....

Pfft, the minor and lesser runes are much harder. On my server they're constantly farmed, and the farmers charge 20K+ for them. Not much plat for cash going on there, oh, my, no.

Do the alternate quest for access to Sol Ro. etherial and spectral drop there quite often form trash mobs. Usually in a 2 hour stint there we get 6+ parchment drops on average. If you don't know about the alternate access quest look up quests for western wastes.

At least you can buy those spells, not so with runes. I bought almost all of mine, the 65 ones were pricey.

Your druid could easily solo the efreeti in WW and sol ro is amazing EXP, EPs and SPs drop off trash as does ornate gear

You can buy the 66, 67, & 68 runes as they are dropable. I'll take runes over parchments any day. At least with runes you get the next spell in line instead of some random repitition.

You are correct of course, butI was thinking of the GoD runes, though, which you cannot buy, nor the spells from them. I am still annoyed to be unable to obtain my final level 65 spells.

I agree it is good to get the next spell in line.

I thought GoD spells/abilities were all crystal purchases? Admittedly, haven't really looked into it though.

In any case, I have to agree that the OoW runes aren't nearly as bad as the PoP parchment/glyphed-rune thing was. Getting a random spell was a pain. You ended up with a glut of the "common" spells so resale wasn't worthwhile (I guess it did mean that some spells were super cheap though), but the rarer spells were ridiculous to get and so were either not available or were super expensive in the bazaar (once they got the bazaar going).

The nice thing about the runes is that the prices are pretty stable across the board. You know what order you're going to get stuff in. And while the prices may seem high, they're not really that bad in relation. I remember spending 40k for a level 65 spell, and that wasn't considered a bad price at all. And it was a hell of a lot harder to get that kind of cash back then...

I also don't understand how people have that much trouble with drops. I've got all my level 66 spells (ok, that's only 3, but still...). I've got all the runes for the next level spells, and a couple runes for the level after that. All of those were from random drops. Do any NC/WoS camp for long enough and you'll get a rune (assuming you're killing minis). In a typical camp, you'll get one "named" about every 30 minutes or so. Each one typically drops two things (could be a rune, a rare drop, a common drop, or a quest bit). Most groups do a "roll on everything until you get one rune, and one rare/quest drop" system. I've quite often been in groups where *everyone* in the group has gotten one of both and we've started the list over. It's just not that hard...

As to the parchments. Unless you *realy* want to do it yourself, I'd seriously just buy whatever spells you need. Prices for PoP spells have dropped seriously. While people don't raid in PoP as much as they used to, a hell of a lot of people do farm many zones for loot/spells. You should be able to find most of your 61-65 spells in the bazaar, and it will usually take you less time and effort getting the money to buy those spells then it would take you to get the parchments and get lucky getting all the right spells.

Right. Like I said, the mini camps are monopolized by farmers on my server. Same characters logged in 24/7, go figure.

I can probably train them out once or twice, but that really doesn't solve the problem.

Crystals are DoN, by the way. Much like the LDoN spells, you accumulate points to use.

Weird. Don't really see that much on my server. There's usually some bard/necro combo farming at the shallow end of WoS, but that's about it. I don't think I've ever seen anything but "normal" exp groups camping those minis the majority of the time.

Doh! Brain farted there. Read GoD. Even wrote GoD. Was thinking DoN. Yeah. GoD spells can suck to get if you aren't in a guild that's interested in bothering with GoD content.

In that case, change my statement. They should make GoD spells available via some other mechanism at some point. Although don't most GoD spells get replaced with "upgrades" in OoW/DoN? I think I remember hearing about a shammy slow that's a real "must have", but I'm a bit hazy on the rest. I do know that paladins, for intance, get complete upgrades/replacements for every single GoD spell, so thankfully the fact that my guild just ignored the whole expansion isn't going to hurt me.
