I don't think the Dark Elves are interested in Gfay right now. I think they have their eyes set on Freeport. Since Freeport is already split they would have a relativly easy time of controlling the city. There is no chance to control Felwithe or Kelethin as they would be right in the other races backyard.

There are Dark Elf Instigators in Crushbone as I speak. I think their plan is to convince the Orcs to keep the Light elves busy so that they will not interfere with their siege of Freeport. The only race with an army large and well organized enough to repel the Dark Elf invasion of Freeport is the High elves. By convincing the Orcs to finally make good on their promise to "Burn Kelethin to the Ground" the Dark elves force the High elves into protection of their close kin the Wood Elves. The Dark elves know that the Orcs are not strong or orginized enough to win a war against the light elves but that is not important to the DEs only time is.

It also looks as if the trolls are poised to take back Gukta. Based on the priest summoning the Troll in Innothole the Dark Elves will also look to occupy the Noble Guktans with repelling their own invasion and in the process get the city of Neriak back to themselves as well.

The Dark Elves are not strong enough to wage a straight out war against the lighter races. The light races would normally not let them control such an important tradecity as Freeport. But with manipulation and trickery they stand a chance of befuddling the light races long enough to Blitz Freeport and take control before anyone has the time or resources to react.

All of this is of course just my own opinion, we wont know until it finally unfolds

Gotta go with the underdog trolls. They are overdue for a good uprising.

My wood elven bard has to go with the home team though, on a personal note, I root for anyone who wants to burn that damnable Ewok city to the ground and **** on the ashes.

The Erudite shadowknight throws nominal support behind the dark elves though her War Supplier isn't giving out potions so meh on them.

The human cleric of Bertoxxolous is just as KoS to the Tier'Dal as she is to the Koada'Dal so ***** 'em all and may the plagues of Bertoxxolous sweep across their battlefields laying waste to both sides.

Cease and desist with the whining!!!! Please.
I am not sure how many times I have heard "I will keep my nose out of it, I am too low".

Here is my reply to that.
1) Get a main, stop the alt fest.
2) learn to play your class.

I remember well the dread lands event. that rocked!
I never broke out my main once for it, unless it was to loot a dropped object.
I ran through Dreadlands on a then lvl 38 bard, and then 46 Human(yes, I said Human) ranger.
Playing the scenario to the hilt, these toons farmed, farmed and farmed items. Later when most of the guild showed up, I stayed on these toons to pull to my guildies, so they could get items.

If you truely want in a non-level restricted event, there will be a way.

Besides, the ToFS, FV/DL war and DoN Lavastorm events have all had quests do-able by lowbies, some being simple "pick up ground spawn" quests that required no killing at all. Maybe the big end fights haven't favored lvl 20 characters (nor should they, really) but there's been stuff for all levels.

Actually, the correct response to the question
"What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"
is to ask "African or European?"

If you want to know why, watch the movie
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail" for a good laugh.

By the way, my favorite color is blue. No green...

It's true. Kinda awesome they let you become involved in the story as they are about to change something.

Lets be honest what other game lets you do this?

And about the no exp thing, they do infact give exp. Just most of the time your in a raid killing so it's split into about 40-50 people..

Actually I only have two characters that are over level 50; that's of the 80 odd toons that I play. Granted I don't play every one all that often and most are about level 20. But it is fun to try out new classes and new stats combinations and see how they play to the higher levels.

The sad thing about the coming war is that for the newbies and lowbies it is *good* to have quiet zones where most people are about your own level. When the (usually bored) 70s come into a newbie zone they kill everything or (worse) kill off the guards to your city - the last source of succor if the NPCs get too much for you. Most often they give no warning so you can take appropriate avoidance action.

Nor is it common any more to have a high level toon run through your newbie zone - pause for a couple of seconds to cast a high level buff on you - and then carry on about their business. I also remember the days when a high level would arrive in the newbie zone and offer to buy the loot we were getting coppers for from a merchant, for plat!! And they would also offer free advice on how to level your class.

This whole aspect of the game has changed and maybe it is about time for Sony to consider that for every level 70 player, there are about 30 or more who are levelling to become 70.

The war? Whose side? I guess I am on the lowbies' side - though my gnome and ogre have already decided to stand by their Dark Elf mates :)

Actually (lol) my wife sent in a feedback telling Sony they needed to conduct random drug testing of their programmers "because people do not come up with this crap on COFFEE in the morning." Nice rant and seconded from this quarter ;)

In my opinion, if your going to kill the mobs and know that aren't giving exp, it's simple, don't kill them, and did anyone ever think that maybe the mobs were made that way to STAY alive and NOT be killed so that something could happen. You have to look at from all sides...

Anyhow if anyone sees me on The Nameless(damn you GM's for taking inny from me!) on Nghia or Ailelin, i'll probably be bored and tired, and will talk.

Btw, If everyone remembers, to all of you flaming this new war, this IS a roleplaying game, or was designed to be, and you do NOT do everything for a reward. You participate in these events for pride of helping your race (in a rping sense) and probably comes with a title or something at the end, we shall know when it's over. (either way, i'm in for the DE's)

Dumbest chit ever occurred on this day in EQ lore history. The orcs attack the elves. Great, so I load up my toons to go help the side of good. Dumbest thing ever...

First of all, the elven enchanters were retarded. The mobs they charmed were not marked or clearly visible aside from the other 20 orcs overrunning your camp. So if you hit one of their pets, because unlike a group members pet you CAN attack these pets, the whole elven armada attack you en masse. I died more from my "comrades" than any orcs.

Second, the orcs were only lootable if the elves didn't do sizable damage, and since they were usually rangers that can hit from afar and out dps my cleric/warrior/chanter combo, I was scrogged on loot.

But not that you would want the loot from the orcs. It was potions, whereas if you decided to kill the elves, like a lot of people did, you could get belts that gave 175hp, and 45% haste. And some nice book too, but can't remember the stats. Oh yeah, and the same potions as well. Guess who was getting raided....

And the best part.... Amidst all this dying, you never gained a single point of xp. What!?!! Don't give me that chit about "Is this game about loot and xp or role playing!" This game is about loot, getting better, and you don't get better by saying "Long live the elves!" or "Me scroggin da elfs!" You get better with xp and loot. If you want roleplaying, try a pen and paper game, with the proper DM it beats any puter roleplaying game hands down.

So do yourself a favor: Don't participate in this poorly planned, chipmunk scenario, until SOE fires the monkeys that designed the "war". This is like the square wheel to the caveman, yeah it sounds all good on paper, but when applied you get nowhere.

You down the the Pee Pantz!?!!

It depends on the scenario you're serching for. This is a lore based-event. While it's discouraging that you might not get exp from it, or 9/10 get High End OoW gear or Elemental quality gear, how about you not cry because this awesome loot wasn't just handed to you. *shrugs* The real benefit is watching the war unfold before your eyes. While I don't roleplay, I also know the meat of this game isn't the grind to 50+ to make other 50+ characters, then choose one to work on progression, farm 100000000000 plat, spend on your alts, and solo your way through a game with about 3000 other people, 1000 on at a certain time.

The game is more about the social aspect of a D&D-style setting, or that's what it was originally intended to be. Being able to log on to a group of people who want to hang out and kill some stuff and have a good time. Has noone else thought that aside from getting "phat lewtz" or uber exp, but without sounding like the creepy goth kid at high school who wore a cape every day, and actually made you believe that he believed his sister was a succubus that maybe the real fun was *supposed* to be that we *all* see this event unfolding before our own eyes. the Dreadlands war had a good acceptance, hence they kick it up a step. An expansion says "war is coming" and noone arches an eyebrow?

Case in point, Legacy of Ykesha comes out, all of a sudden the next time you log on your Troll, and gate to Innothule swamp, you're ganked by level 60 Frogloks who don't look like the ones from Guk neccessarily, someone wants something explained a little more, then "read this text book we've been releasing a bit at a time" This is happening over a long term, certain steps being taken so more and more people are hearing about it.

Off point, what level were these orcs, like super-tough, 60+? or something a lvl 30 *could* have killed if he was fast enough lol I need to join that new General channel more cause I didn't hear about this conflict until that earlier post :(

As a pretty new player on EQ with a Lvl 35 Cleric & a Lvl 25 Druid, there is no way that I can fight these but if I could I would be on the High Elves side.

I do wish that during this war, that different ranks of the Dark Elf Attacking forces as well as different ranks of the defending Good forces were different Levels, I.E there could be lower ranks of them in certain area's of Freeport / East Commanlands who could be for example be level 30-40 and then in another area there could be higher ranks who could be level 40-50 and so on with the Captains (If they are the highest rank) being Lvl 70 and then many more people could get involved with the war.

Just an idea which would mean that hopefully more people of different Levels were able to get involved in the war.

Well, I'm still considering myself a neutral mercenary but it seems I am dubious to Dark Alliance (while being KoS to The Guardians) so I smell an opportunity to get in good with these dark elves and pry out some of their secrets.

On another note the Orc/Elven war has not happened on Maelin yet and we're trying to figure out how to trigger it. Spent several hours in crushbone listening to their ranting, even made a DE cleric to talk to the DEs on Dark Alliance faction in there, but no luck.

To my 57 sk, all the orcs except the leader conned DB, all the elves conned red. The named elves all see-invis.

Seeing as my main is a 65 High Elf Cleric I'll be fighting on the good side...I have a low level wood elf druid alt as well as a Dark Elf necro, a Dark Elf enchanter, a Frogloc Shammy and a Vah Shir Bard....but my cleric is my main and I will defend her hometown of Felwithe.

Well I'm pretty split between the Teir`Dal and the Koada`Dal. I roleplay heavily with almost every single character I have and I have more Teir`Dal of Innoruuk than I do Tunare worshippers, so it just depends on the character I'm on at the time, but I'm mainly rooting for the Teir`Dal. :-) Though in my roleplaying story with my friends I'm hoping for peace for all but the trolls. LOL.

There are dark elves in Crushbone. An Ambassador (now x and DB to a 16 ranger) and an advisor (same). Be warned.

Ambassador D`Vinn (and the advisor who's a rare spawn generally) has been in Crushbone for years keeping up the relations between the Orcs and the Teir`Dal. Hence one of the reasons these particular orcs are on the Indigo Brotherhood faction.

Well, as a local representative from the lands of Al'Kabor, the choice is clear. There's been no signs of discord. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that our Troll population is still happily ensconced in Grobb...

There is a new ambassador spawning in the throneroom and in Crush's tower called 'a Tier'Dal ambassador' (did not respond to hails). There is also an advisor and an instigator spawning in those places. They are on an approximate 3 min timer. If no orcs are around to talk to it seems they despawn. They drop exactly 2pp, 2gp, 2sp, and 2cp which is precisely what I got from an orc spy a little later. Coincidence? I think not.

Basically the Teir'dal try to convince the orcs to go to war. Mostly I got glared at by them.

a Teir'dal instigator says 'The Koada'dal are mobilizing. For your survival, you must protect yourselves.'

The following are responses to hails from my baby DE cleric who /cons indifferent:

[Tue Jul 12 02:35:16 2005] You say, 'Hail, a Teir`dal advisor'
[Tue Jul 12 02:35:16 2005] a Teir`dal advisor says 'Many orcs are about to die, but the price is right.'

Orc Quotes:

orc spy says 'I was promised a seat in Crush's chambers if I perform my duties!'

[Tue Jul 12 13:38:17 2005] You say, 'Hail, Warlord Mish'
[Tue Jul 12 13:38:18 2005] Warlord Mish says 'CRUUUUUSH!!!!'

[Tue Jul 12 13:38:40 2005] You say, 'Hail, orc elfslayer'
[Tue Jul 12 13:38:41 2005] orc elfslayer says 'For the emperor! Those who stand before me will be die!'

[Tue Jul 12 13:38:56 2005] You say, 'Hail, orc battle leader'
[Tue Jul 12 13:38:57 2005] orc battle leader says 'Today the elves will feel the burn from years and years of torment!'

[Tue Jul 12 13:39:02 2005] You say, 'Hail, orc destroyer'
[Tue Jul 12 13:39:02 2005] orc destroyer says 'Long have I survived the torment of the elves! Finally a day of vengeance has come!'
