They're = they are
Their = modifier before a noun (their kitchen, their car)
There = to, into, or towards that place (Let's go over there)
Your = modifier before a noun (your hair, your pants)
You're = you are

I'm not trying to be elitist, I'm just getting tired of poor grammar.

You may find yourself Smiley: banghead if you are going to try to educate the masses.

'The masses are asses' - famous political quote

The rampant misuse of certain words has not only crossed to acceptability, but has become the norm, especially here.

I for one DO NOT subscribe to the notion that these posts are like speech and homynyms (words that sound alike but are spelled differently with different meaning) can be substituted for each other.

It is like trying to read posts without punctuation or paragraphs. I do not. I just skip them entirely.

See this thread. People not only 'do not get it', when you actually intentionally show them what poor grammar is like, they flame you for having poor grammar!

*sigh*

Never post more than a sentence when attempting to correct grammar. The gods frown on such things, and will ensure that at least one mistake will appear on the correction...
