While I was waiting for a raid that never hapenned, I did the misty thicket quest. It's pretty much just like the old newb armor quest, but it starts and ends in PoK, which is lame because you have to go all the way back to your GM in your home town to turn in a ticket for armor. The new mob models look good though. They revamped almost all of the mobs in home towns that look like pre-LoY character models, i.e. "I waaant... my.. M-T-V...... Nu Nu-nu-nU nununu Nuu-n-nuu"

My newbie armor has been LDoN crafted for the most part since LDoN came out. If this 2nd tier newbie is better than that I will be surprised.
One thing I hope they do is make the quests fair across the board. I remember questing for some armors in Qeynos that were impossible to get (Giant Field Rat Wiskers anyone?) so I just gave it up. My WE Druid got a FULL set of newbie at level one. (I did that on purpose, not killing anything to get xp, scrounging, buying and looting what I could.)
Right now I have my newbie beastlord (level 16 now) in Journeyman's Leather.
As an aside, did you know you CANNOT tribute DoN armor? I will generally tribute any LDoN gear I have no use for, and it is not bad tribute. Tribute masters will give you nothing for DoN armor.

Not really knowing if they were newbie quests until I got them (but having a good idea by the task description), I took my 36 Shaman and did 2 this morning, 1 from the Armor quest NPC across from the soulbinder and it was set up just like a task, it was the NRo one in which you kill 5 ea. Scarabs,dune tarantulas, giant rattlesnakes,and loot 1 egg sac from the spider and scarab and I recieved a decent newbie cloak. (will post later).
Then I did one of the tasks that is progressive in which you recieve a 1st note or letter to give to your home town guildmaster, they go 2nd,3rd and so on.
The G. Fay one has you kill 5 bandits and 5 orc centurians talk to an npc there a few times returned to PoK and recieved a bracer and the letter, had 2 or 3 +5 stats, will post that also.
Not certain if i'll start a new toon just to do these at appropriate level but Its a thumbs up from me.
