How has EQ been, I've, been out of the fold for a considerable amount of time, but now I'm near to entering college, and the wonders of ethernet, and I was curious if EQ is still worth the time and money to play it online. I left with a 33 druid on Mith Marr with high wisdom, great solo class, and I have a level 20 something ranger with a lammy and centi SS combo and ivy etched and various other bits of armor.

Is EQ still worth playing, I've heard some accounts that EQ has gotten easy. I'm just wondering if I should go find a new game and stick to it, or come back to EQ. Input is appreciated.

I am curious too. I haven't played since mid-January, and then only played for about 2 months. I just had to quit because I had a hard time staying away from it!

But I've been coming back to MMORPGs (EQ was my first). I have been playing City Of Heroes for a week now and really like it. But my mind keeps coming back to EQ...I don't think I can stay away much longer.

It looks like there is still some interest in it by Sony though. Looks like there is another expansion coming...and they did a server merger to double the population. You probably should look for other posts regarding old players coming back. Good luck!

EQ is easier in some ways but its still a very large game. Playing to level 50 is much easier than it was since you have no issues with corpse recovery (if you have the DoN expansion), and there is a lot of high grade gear about, and the spells have been upgraded for many classes (such as healing spells and their recast timers).

On the other hand, there is a ton more game to play since level 70 is the cap plus all of the AA's. Getting to level 70 plus all the AA's is still a lot harder than getting to level 50 was in early EQ days, in my opinion.

EQ is still a great and fun game, but it has lost most of the luster it had Pre-SoL.

IMO, EQ was at its peak during the Kunark/Velious era. Seems the community has been degraded alot since then. It is alot harder to find groups than it was back then. True noobs are a thing of the past.

If you are not a member of a rather large and experienced guild, you will find it next to impossible to break into PoP/Elementals, GoD and Oow.

The problem is if you are at the low end of the game, all the great content in the old world is so deserted that it makes it almost unplayable.

College.....absolutely play EQ...

Break from the chaos of papers and library trips/ study groups and labs. Cheaper than all other forms of entertainment...not to mention that partying can be expensive and troublesome lol. Don't get me wrong....you need to work them in too lol. I found it VERY fun and just a good "escape" from the college grind.

Just make sure you don't skip too many classes!! /wink
