Hey everyone. I'm back with a new question for my 43 Bard on Povar. I've been saving up and had some pretty good luck in the bazaar lately. I managed to get my hands on a Thunderous Drum of Karana today. This drum is incredible. Now, I still have about 4800 left in the bank. I am torn on whether I should buy the components for an Earring of the Solstice or a haste item. Namely Flowing Black Silk Sash or Silver Chitin Hand Wraps.

Which do you think would be more beneficial for me?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, this is my first and only toon on this server so I can't get more plat quickly. I've done everything from scratch.

Oh, by the way, the reason I was considering the Earring of Solstice was to reduce my downtime charm kiting. I know its pretty obvious, but my downtime in making me insane. heh heh

The solstice earring is 1 mana regen/tick.

That is 10 mana/minute of sitting or standing.

Is that really going to make a difference?

Wow, Czae.

Just guessing here...he has a 43 bard and after looking up level 43 Bards on eqrankings, he must have between a 1000 and 2000 total mana, to med up 1000 mana must seem like a never ending quest.

Fyi none of the 43's on eqrankings had any ft items.

So...questions, do Bards mana regen songs affect them?

What do they do?

They have mana so they must cast spells?

Never played a Bard, just wondering.

If you want to swarm, I'd get the solstice earring first. If you only plan on grouping until you get to the low 60's, go for the SCHW. The solstice will make a huge difference if you're into swarming or charm kiting. You'll still eventually go OoM, but you'll regen your mana twice as quick, and you'll be able to go a lot longer before actually going OoM.

No. Neither does clarity, kitty crack, twitching, mindwrack, modrods, etc. FT, AAs and tribute are the only ways bards can raise their mana regen, and our meditate skillcap is 1.

Couple of different options here actually. Most bards do have an earring of the solstice by the time they're in the mid 40's, at least if they like to swarm kite or charm kite. You can swarm until OoM, then sit there. It used to take me about 20 minutes to regen all of my mana with FT1 at level 52 or so (swarming stalkers in PoN). So, a better option for me was to just die. If you're bound nearby you can just run back and loot your corpse and be at almost full mana (you won't be quite full because some gear will increase your manapool, but it's still better then OoM). As long as you got a rez within the 2 hour rez timer, you were ok. Swarming stalkers, there were times when I'd ding swarming, then go get my corpses rezzed and ding again. You can make up the small percentage of experience lost through rez while swarming in less then 2 minutes.

We have one targeted AE nuke that costs a buttton of mana (so nobody uses it). Charms over level 39 use mana (the main use of mana until later). Fading memories (the famous bard AA) costs 900 mana per use. Dieing for a pulling bard sucks. Do you have any idea how long it takes to regen 900 mana while pulling with the regen restrictions we have? Even for a bard at the FT cap it takes a little over 3 minutes.

Even the veteran AA that restores HP, endurance and mana to full doesn't give bards any mana. Gives us full HP and endurance, but no mana. And it's "working as intended"...
