Go Drog all the way....
A Drogs head doesn't block your view the way a Horses does.
Besides I think its easier to loot while on a Lizard rather than on a tall horse.
Color is simply for personal preferance.

Agree, drogs, have one toon with a horse and I hate it! Shrink helps a little but not enough, those ears are always in your way.
I bought mounts to suit my character's race. Probably not the most practical thing since the horses head does get annoying at times. I went with athstetics...
Gnome -- drog
Wood elf -- white horse
Dark elf -- white horse (heh I liked the look)
Ogre -- drog

It makes no difference speed wise drog or horse. The low end horses and drogs have the same speed as do the others in their respective price ranges.
Colors are just for looks. I dyed my gnome's armor scheme to match his red drog.
Lowest price mount is a tan rope bridle (tan horse 8500pp)
White or Black will cost you 1000pp extra at the low end.
There is no difference in price for different color drogs (only speed costs more) Low end ones will cost 9559 (with cha > 104)

i think it's a role play decision. horses heads are there, but it's not bad enough to really make a difference. also, drogs sway from side to side, horses dont do that. so it is just whatever you like.
I use a third person camera so the heads don't bother me. I buy them based on looks, mostly race.
I use a horse but only b/c it's really really really fast........until I got the horse I used a drog b/c of the whole ear thing.........though really the ear thing doesn't even matter anymore group/raid wise you should have assist keys making targeting easy....

I encountered a bug in one zone, where my drog changed into a horse on zone in.. that decided it for me, horsie head was always in the way, no matter how cool it looked to be on a horse. Of course, I dont target with my mouse, but my screen has quite enough things on it to block my view.

Functionally, there's no difference between them. However, from a RPG aspect, I always felt horses were out of place. I have a drog myself (though the horses head does get in the way, it's really a matter of personal preference.)
