BFD, you can solo your SK. I can solo ANY class (ask my guildies). BFD. I hate to solo except that there are no pesky loot-sharing issues hehe...

Where is that dead horse icon?

This will have to do: Smiley: banghead

In response to the question on how the new pots affect soloing; as I stated in the weekend update, I took my warrior from 47-51 on monday. Did it in the entrance to the Hole using the 50% haste pot and the best HoT pot. In the level range that I've used them, they've changed me from a painfully slow-soloing Warrior, to one that makes faster exp solo than with the best group.

Yea, well I like my SK. Hes got class armor, pets, magic, can tank and in bad situations can harm touch. Hands down I think he rocks. Ive played a necro, but caus of no tanking abilities what do u do when ur pet dies, gate?? and then u lose ur exp. Druids, pfftt....there weak....SK's all the way! 10/10! Soloable and grouping!

You obviously haven't played a necro. Oh, sure, you may have logged on to one and fiddled around for a few levels.

Tap-tanking is a constant in any Necromancer's repertoire. In many cases a necro can stand toe-to-toe with an exp mob and, with leach running and repeated lifetapping, not worry about dying. Pet tanking is also a big part of the class. The other night in a ~55 level LDoN I was tanking mobs for maybe 1/4 of the dungeon. What can I say, our MT was a Berzerker...

Later on Necros(infact all the pet classes except mage) do not pet tank....they tank and the pet DPSes.

A necro will just tap and cast shields......and if all else fails he'll FD.

Now I will still stand by my shaman statement but not for a single moment would I EVER consider a SK a better soloer than a necro...not even close.....

Sadly I'd have to concur that SK's are not great solo-ists at any level. We CAN solo, but we're most effective in a group.

Hence why there are so many Necro's LFG and so few SK!

DPS-wise it kind of depends how long the mob actually lives - if its long enough for a necro to stack dots and have them run for full span, they'll probably beat the SK. If its shorter fights the SK will take the lead.

The thing to realise about Necro pets is that they have choices and can use a warrior to tank or a rogue to DPS. Plus their nasty great red AA pet, plus Wake the Dead. And then there is the matter of their DoTs. With AAs some necros are doing 4K per tick.

The bastards never run out of mana, can heal, mezz and charm!?

Is there anything they can't do? Smiley: bah

Necros can slow undead. 70% slow is nothing to sneeze at. Beats the hell out of my 50% at 62. I've solo'd a shaman to 59 1/2 and a Beast to 63. The shaman was slower to solo. Just doesn't have the DPS and they don't tank near as well as the Beast does. Of course, the beast has 65 aa's and the shaman only 18...but still, I enjoy playing the beast more. On the Beastlord boards, it's a consensus that Necros are the best soloers, followed by mages, then beastlords.

Tank classes are meant to be solo'ed. they are meant to be grouped with a healer. Gotta keep those clerics in business otherwise, who would rez me in the guildlobby when I get a repop in the room I've been clearing in Nadox?

If there were an undead XP mobs.. that would be great.. except with the slow mitgation coupled with the slightly unreal DPS from current content.. it's unlikely you will be pet tanking all that much even with slow.

I have not even loaded my pet heal spell in the last 3 months.

So.. how about you measure soloing success as AA per hour? And the average of 5 zones (ie: not a single sweet spot).

Bards are awesome.. I love to let them pull. But watching one solo PoFire table mobs.. (or should I say "mob".. while I killed three) was eye opening.

Beastlords are the bomb.. but they lack escape and CC skills/spells. Basically, let Tigger die while you zone?

Shaman I have more and more respect for.. and their Omens DoTs would seem to close the DPS gap a ton. And Slow is huge.. 75% slow is too powerful. Notice that no one has received an higher slow since pre-PoP and almost all the MOBs in the new expansions mitigate.. I am seeing a ton of "slightly effective". Slow is great.. and it does make summon-kiting easier to be hit less.. not going to argue with that.

But.. I could never solo a non-FD class (even my pet has it =p).. too much downtime.

Pet tanking has worked for me since I was soloing in Echo Caverns(30-40) and is working where I am now, Dranik Scar(lvl 52; with out slow; no undead).
I still fear and I still kite, but I'm just lazy....

I think necro pets make an ok tank.Just today me,a 62 shammy and my 66 necro buddy killed a named kyv in Noble's Causeway can't remember name while my 65 pet tanked.Took him down with no problem.Of course I rolled lowest on the rune drop. But it was fun and easy none the less.

And by the way I have yet to see a SK of any level out there soloing murks or anything else in NC.And when I was level 65 I was soloing 2 to 3 murks in nc by the time a 67 druid killed one.

To even mention a SK in a solo class debate is a joke. I love my SK but he is far from being a solo class.

As far as the new potions are concerned I don't think they should be considered in this debate. IMO, A class debate should be based on the class skills, spells and AA's only. No special benefits from clicky items, gear (other than an epic) or outside buffs. It's the only way to keep the debate strictly about the class.

Gbaji Made some very good points and I have to agree with. Looking at the best solo class means the most self scificant class which is the Necro. From log on to log off, in any enviroment, is the only class that is totally self scificant. They don't require buffs, they don't need extended down time for healing or mana regen, they can get out of bad sistuations with FD, they can handle adds, they can prevent mobs from running, and most important they can recover lost exp from death. You take any class of the same level put them in a zone unbuffed with a Nec who will get the most most exp after a 3 hour session?

Almost any class can solo in the proper zone with full buffs but you need to take into consideration the down time on any given day getting buffed, and getting to the proper camp spot, and what happens if there is a death.
