Just my opinion from playing a Druid up to lvl 62. I like the utility I have to solo OR group. Strictly sticking to soloing as thats the topic, if I can't charm a pet and use that I can root rot. If I can't root rot, then I can quad kite. I can change my speed (SoW, SoE) and I can change the mobs speed (snare, root). I can heal and port if in trouble. No one aspect of this all is unique to the Druid but having them all helps me adapt quite a bit. Not saying better than X or anything just very good solo class.

Heh... if anyone has some advice on chanter soloing please tell me. I cannot solo mine well.
But back to this topic:
Necro- Great pets, can snare, awesome DoTs, ability to heal themselves and pet, mana regen spells(take away health but you can get that back from enemy), and pretty good nukes

Charm something and have it attack....(later on Chanters can solo like a mad man.....) Also you can cast your pet and have something attack you so your pet attacks.

blah blah blah necros can blah blah blah Shaman and BST still>necros >_> a shaman and bst can do anything a necro can the one exception to this might be the necro who solos VZ....but only b/c you can split them..... but then again shaman and bst can do things necros can't....

***** it and make a bard evryone will love you!!

You have some deep-seated issues against necros, dude. Maybe we should talk about it. It's just not healthy, keeping this level of irrational hatred....unles you're a halfling druid, in which case hating necros is a birthright.

See, this is the kind of unreasonable hostility that I pointed out. If you don't have any idea what a necro can do, then you shouldn't talk about them. Necros get a bad rap because people like you don't understand them.

Lets talk about heals first.

Best beastlord pet heal is a 2730 heal costing 531 mana and takes 9 sec to cast 2 sec recast time It is 5.1 health per mana.

Best beast heal is 1165 heal costing 456 mana and takes 3 sec to cast and 2 sec recast 2.55 health per mana but it is faster.

Best shaman pet heal is a HoT spell 820 health per tick for 4 ticks 3280 health total 520 mana 6 sec casting time 2 sec recast. 6.3 health per mana

Best shaman quick heal is 1785 health 558 mana 3.75 sec casting time 2 sec recast time 3.1 health per mana.

Shaman heals are much more effective.

Slows/Haste

Shaman 75% slow
Beastlord 65% slow

Shaman 50% Haste
Beastlord 85% pet haste

Buffs

Shamans win this hands down.....

HP/Mana

THey are both about the same

AC
SHaman have slightly higher AC

DoTs
Shamans win this hands down they can almost match a necro with dots

Nukes

About the same

Melee DPS
Beastlords win this hands down

Pets

Beastlords win this one as well but a shaman pet isn't ment for tanking the shaman himself will tank the pet is for DPS

So

Here is what it is

Healing
Shaman

DPS
Beastlord

Pet/Tanking
Bst/Shaman

Buffs
Shaman

DoTs
Shaman

Slows
Shaman

Haste
Bst(though only for pet) shaman wins for self hasting

#64 May 05 2005 at 12:55 AM Rating: Good
Erm wait shaman get 60% bst get 50%...........you were right on my original point....then I went over my brothers spells and found I was wrong in the first place shaman haste is 60% so thats 25% less pet haste and 10% more self haste than a beast.....which still doesn't matter since bst wins here

A lot depends on what you are trying to do soloing as well.

Are we talking pure exp as efficiently as possible? Quadding mobs in fire is hard to beat.

Are we talking soloing named that summon? A slow and tanking ability is a big big plus.

Are we talking soloing named that dont summon? Then some form of snare and dots are great.

A lot depends on how much room there is too of course, some classes can do GREAT where there is room to move, but lousy where things are tight. And how close other mobs are...sometimes cc of some sort (root counts) is required.

"best soloing" really depends on what best means. Taking out names for loot is ENTIRELY different from being the most efficient exp grinder.

And then it also becomes important to consider what mobs we are talking about...SOE has adjusted a lot of mobs so that they are immune or resistant to some soloing classes best tactics. Many mobs cannot be snared, some mitigate slow, many summon...etc.

Most solo classes tend to think of the best situations in which they can solo and often dont even know how well other classes can solo.

Sliggoth, druid/ necro/ warrior/ bst/ shammy/ cleric

PS warriors can solo if you have LOTS of time- good twinkage helps too :)

I think it's hard to top the soloing abilities of a necro. Keep in mind that most classes CAN solo, but are also dependent on buffs from other classes or suffer a lot of downtime. Necros don't need them. They can solo indefinately with only self buffs. Snare kiting for AA's is fun stuff with a high level necro, and downtime is virtually zero.

I solo about 100% tried grouping in the early days got left dead places stolen from and cheated out of loot in the start so I gave it up (this was the early years of EQ when you had camp and kill stealing prior to all the expansions ) players were like rats back then overcrowded they eat their on young back then .So a gave up grouping and in turn never developed the skills to group . Now It be to embarrassing for me to group being a newbie at L55 group wise . I still solo with my L 55 Paladin Dwarf now. He is a tripple grandmaster skill wise and has a million plat in the bank never cheated a single player a(and I use to sell banded armor back then ) . I now have dual accounts and have a enchanter I am his bodyguard he is a dual grandmaster skill wise . He is now level 50 . So now I just play with myself and him . hehe .

From 1 to 70 there is no doubt that a Necro is the winner.

At various levels some classes have a period where they can do very well, wizzies, druids, bards especially, mages do OK from 1 to 70, but some levels are much harder than others.

If you wanted to rank them it would be Necro, Mage, Bard, then second tier, Druid, Wizard, Beastlord, Enchanter, Ranger, Shaman. Third tier, Shadow Knight, Monk, Paladin, Cleric, Warrior, Rogue. (Umm do we still have Zerkers in the game?)

Remember, I am saying, across the game from 1 to 70.

At certain sets of levels, the ranking will move around a bit. But the Necro is always number one, and really are in a class of their own.

Ok, how does the new haste/heal/health potions fit into the best soloing class debate now. Just wondering if these addition change peoples views on what is the best soloing class.

Now I would never consider my class(Monk) to be a great soloing class, but I can say that since the potions came out I can solo a whole lot easier than I could before. Just wonder what others experiences have been??

Cheers

They're nice. They didn't turn my warrior in to much of a soloer, but now my necro never clicks off his conversion. I'd bet wizzys and mages are likin the healing too.

I'm not surprised that some people don't know, but there's these new things necros do so that they don't have to tank called fear, root, and perhaps the most complex, running away.
