Words of awareness for 1k or primal essence for 500 plat. Hard to say which made me happier

This is one that I just pulled a couple of days ago. I bought two forest loops, for 195pp and 200pp respectively. Immediately sold both of them to vendor (135 charisma) for 285pp each. 180 free pp in about 2 minutes.

Oh man! The best bazaar deal was when i bought a earthshaker for 75k and sold it for 400k. No lie but that was a once in a lifetime deal.

Best deal I got was the Circlet of Shadows, the good one, for 10K. This was on Stormhammer way back when and the seller was transferring to another server and they wouldn't let him take it with him because that item never dropped on his home server. Still have it and use it today :)

Definition of a good deal? Both think they are cheating the other.

- I once bought a Poison Wind Censer for 1500pp and sold it for 50 000 to guy who had bought his plat with real life money. Made me feel especially good. Aaand.. it was actually the cheapest AE weapon at hand at that time, no Earthshakers were for sale, so maybe he cheated me :)

- the deal that made me happiest ever was trading 18 Crushbone Belts at lvl 10 for a Dwarven Ringmail Tunic. Tunic is very common drop but I was thinking WOW! Real Armor with AC and all! /flex /flex! Is this guy joking or what?? (happened in Aug 2001 :))

- Good deal that I regret: Bought a Manastone for 100k and sold it for 250k (had to buy another one later for 260k :))

i think my best deal ever was i got a full set of magnetic armor for free, someone's trader was doing some banking and was tabbing back and forth (boxing) and he accidently dropped the bag it had all the magnetic pieces in it and a manastone, they just asked for the mana stone and i could keep the rest, so i handed it to him and started a warrior =)

my second one would be a blade of carnage for 35000 plat (missed a 0 there.)

Some guy put Spell: Divine Intervention up for 100pp thinking it was junk. At the time I didn't need it, I was fairly new to the game, and I'd heard it was rare, so I put it up for 30k and it sold within five minutes. :)

Made a few good deals. But gave an even better one to someone on D. Ro one day right after DoN became available.

Basically put up a few drops from Zlandicar up for barter for radiant crystals. Thought that the number referred to the number of radiant crystals that I wanted in exchange. Turns out, it was the number of trades I was willing to do. A 130k pp lesson there.

The guild had a good laugh over that one. Turns out it was a common problem. I've heard of several people that have made the mistake, and others that have profited.

I always find it interesting when there's a story behind a great buy that seems to have a ton of info about the "person they got hooked up from".

....

I don't think I've ever known anything about the seller I bought from beyond the fact that they had what I wanted. I guess I don't communicate well with others... oh wait... 99% of the time traders are AFK so it's not like I could find out info even if I wanted to....

/flame off

I did find a rather nice deal years ago when the bazaar first opened up. I bought a Cloak of flames for 10k (which I had to borrow from a good friend of mine) I felt bad about the deal and sent the guy a message and a few hours later he was flipping out sending me tells like crazy. I ended up selling it back to the guy in the end for same price I paid. That cloak was nice while it lasted and all in all my karma was still in check when all was said and done. In the end I find it hard to grab a steal of a deal knowing I just ripped someone off.

For 50 platinum.

Logged in the next day to see if any other pieces were that low, and all the other tunics for sale were 5 digits ;)

A pre-nerf Circlet of Shadow. Ordinarily it sells in the bazaar for 400,000 plat+. But for some lucky SOB it sold for 400p. I know because I sold it. 2 years and 9 million plat later, it still makes me cringe.

As much as I want to yell NECROPOST!!!... this thread makes me happy. I have so many fond memories of oldschool EQ, maybe I'll reinstall and say FU to all the really modern content.
#122 Feb 06 2010 at 4:23 PM Rating: Good
You know, I'm redownloading EQ now. Thanks annoying necroposter for gaining SOE another client. I wonder if I still have that circlet of shadow somewhere...

Best deal so far that I have gotten is a Shield of the Immaculate for 5k just the other day in the Bazaar.

Have been camping for this item for a while and just happened to notice it in the bazaar when looking for Immaculate Pelts... was a sweet day for me.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning I Get up early and go down my list (100 items) in Bazaar to search and find where the poor person who had to much to drink the night before and HAD to open their trader in that state. Or the person who is so tired that they were doing Touch-n-Go’s with their forehead on their keyboard but had to open up trader and forgot the last Zero. Or the poor noobie who doesn’t know prices and just puts anything on it to get it to show up on Trader.
Still waiting to find the person who just bought the EBay account and found a
Moss Covered Twig https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4
Or
Mask of Tinker https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4811
In their new found bank archives gathering dust and do not know what they have.

I even find the item that is priced way below what the NPC merchant will buy it for downstairs.
Got to love the Bazaar, one of the many mini games in EverQuest.
And with little effort some one who has little plat can leave the zone with double the amount.
