Splitting Loot?Follow

Hi,

Can someone confirm the loot split command for me, please?

As far as I understand it, if, once I've sold all the stuff no-one wants, I've got say,
100 pp, 50 gp, 30 sp and 20 cp then I should type
/autosplit 100 50 30 20
and the cash will be split evenly between all members in my group as long as they are in the same zone as me?

Is that right?

Is it up to me to remember how much cash I had before I start looting for the group?
What if I split loot while a group member is not in the zone?
Can I put in a zero for if I don't have coin of a certain type, say silver?

Any other observations most welcome.

Thanks again.

The command you type is exactly correct Kronk!

To answer your questions, in order:

Yes, or don't carry any money on you before the group. I generally just write down how much platinum I have.

The member that is not in the zone will not get the split, and the loot will be split (party_size - 1) ways. Everyone in the zone will get a little more, and the person not in the zone will not be happy.

Yes, and you should use zeros if you don't have that type of coin. It will split incorrectly if you don't.

Looks like you are on the right track! Seen you in game soon, hopefully!

One more thought....on the "split evenly" part...

Not exactly. If your group has 6 members and you have 11 plat to split, it will give everyone in the group 1 plat and you will have 5 left over that didn't split evenly. The game doesn't recognize that 5 plat = 50 gold, so 8 more gold could have went to each person, reducing the discrepancy between "even" distribution.

All in all, whatever doesn't get split evenly stays with the one doing the splitting.

This is the reason most turn split off during the accumulation phase and then split once at the end. A bunch of 1-2 plat discrepancies over time could make the looter rich compared to what is being shared with the group members otherwise.

Isnt the command you are looking for actually /split xx xx xx xx. ?

/auto turns auto split on and off which i dont think you are looking for.

Just checking

Auto split is the one that automatically splits coins every time someone loots.

/split followed by the number of each slot of coins is the one that you use at the very end to split with the group.

As mentioned, neither one actually produces an even split as there is no rounding and therefore split can end up with extra coins that aren't evenly divided - 11 plats under 6 way split give 1 each to other members and 6 to the one doing the split.

Only time auto split works out IMHO is when you are alternating looting with the group (still comes out uneven but hopefully will even out over time) - I normally use it when I group with someone fight HGs in Rathe for example.

For longer groups (LDON, Raids, Planes, etc), it makes sense to have a Main Looter who sells and splits with group - when you have over 1,000 plat to split, the extra couple of plat are not significant.

Splitting loot does not break the coin into smaller denominations; it keeps all denominations and any remainders go back to the splitter. If I'm looting/ML sometimes I'll /split some of the extra plat/gold that I got as remaindered coin.

If I have time, and the split is in PoK (where there is a bank) I will change to plat and make it divisible by 6. This assumes I kept some sellables that no one wanted or cared about.

Usually if there are any research pages/runes or non-valuable tradeskill items whoever wants/needs can have them. Not going to quibble about a few plat more or less in the final pot.

If someone is looting everything WITH autosplit, they WILL get more than their fair share of plat as described above.

Example:
My group consists of 4 people.
I want to split 20pp.

Question:
When I use the command, will the whole amount of money be split amont the other members of my group, or will I keep my part (5pp)?

You get your share of the split too, or keep your share, however you want to look at it.
