Login Server Always Last to Go Back Up?Follow

#1 Aug 11 2004 at 11:57 AM Rating: Decent
It seems like everytime there's a patch, the login server is always the thing that keeps me from getting in until many hours after the "scheduled" patch should have been finished. This time, I patched just fine but can't login (all servers shown as "up"). Is this due to a large volume of peopel trying to log in at once, or do they run some sort of tests before the login server is placed back online? Just curious.

on all games you can Patch before the actual Patch is finished.. i doubt people are actually playing im sure the servers are trying to load still.. just give it another hour u should be able to get back online.

Everquest is telling me that the login server is currently not allowing connections.. So they are still patching it, once that message is gone then it's obviously up.

I am getting the same message.

If they aren't finished why doesn't it say that, or that you haven't downloaded everything, exit system, blah blah.

I guess I will try again later to but messages should be clearer.

I believe they bring the servers back up and do some preliminary testing to make sure it is running before turning the login server back on.

The patch server and the login server are 2 mutually exclusive systems. Which means you can patch but you can't login. When everything is ready to go, SOE will instruct the Login Server to start accepting connections.
