Reinstalling EQFollow

#1 Aug 10 2004 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
My HD crashed and burned but I have a backup I can restore from. Should I install all the expansion (Original up through GoD) and then restore on top of that to get all the patches, or should I just do the restore?

I've had a similar thing happen. Computer died a few months ago. I was able to salvage EverQuest from my old HD. So I reinstalled from the disks (upto PoP), copied over it with my saved EQ files (from 4 months ago), ran the patcher and updated everything.
Seemed to work fine, until I hit the "Play" button on the patcher. A message popped up that I was missing the d3d9.dll file and EverQuest was shutting down.
Anyone know how or where I can get the d3d9.dll file from or what disk/expansion it is from?
Am I going to have to start from scratch and do a completely free reinstall of EQ and spend 40+ hours patching all the current expansion from Kunark to GoD?

d3d9.dll sounds like a directx 9.0b problem check windows website and install latest version.

d3d9.dll is part of directx9, not part of EQ.

Reinstall Dx9 from Microsoft.

EQ does not have to be registered to play. I have moved the entire game before, most recently this weekend.

I added a new hard drive as my system drive. I moved my EQ folders to a second drive, installed and configured the OS, made sure I had the latest drivers, updated to DX9...then simply copied the EQ folder over to the new drive. Works great.
