Not a whole lot new in the world of Jophiel this past weekend. Mainly played on Morden Rasp with the Aude Sapere folks as much as possible. Dinged my Shadowknight a couple times and found a Fulvous Steelweave Breastplate (i.e. Cazic imbued Erudite cultural) for all of 8k. You have to understand, this is the server where a FBSS starts at 6k and I sold a Ceremonial Hate Candle for 250pp the other night. Finding an AC:51 breastplate for 8k would be like finding it for 750pp on most servers. Guess it pays to play a race/class combo that's uncommon enough that the cultural isn't in high demand.

Strengthed my dislike for the modern bard who learned how to AE kite on EQ Diva and decides that now they're going to go to lvl 65 that way or something. First was in an LDoN where we had a bard (who wasn't pulling -- paladin volunteered quickly after the bard screwed it up). Get an add or two, the bard gets aggro from songs I guess (she sure wasn't mezzing) and drops like a sack of bronze armor. Bard replies "teehee! Bards are made of paper and can't take any hits!" Yeah, bards with a defense of 15 at level 30 can't take any hits. Go out there and get your skills up before you become a liability later on.

Later, I take a trip out to Iceclad to waste some time fearkiting cats while waiting on some guild action to develop. I go out and grab a kitty and some bard who's attempting to AE about four others starts throwing a fit. Ok, look.. my main is a 65 bard. I know all about swarm and AE kiting. But having four cats chasing you does not give you claim over the entire island. Hell, nothing gives you claim over the entire island and if a mob pops while you're busy doing your thing then it's free game. "Island one" is not a camp, sister. Beyond that, I view mass kiting techniques as a target of opportunity. If no one is there, then I go for it. If someone moves into a section, I decide for myself how feasible it is to work around them. I don't start crying "Nadox camped!" because a group moves into Lower Trolls. That's the sort of crap that gives the class a bad name.

So.. whatever. I'm not KSing her as I'm pulling mobs from up on the hillside rather than down in the flat area where she's doing her thing. And she obviously can't even handle the four or five she has because her life is going down and theirs isn't. I kill my cat and grab another. She dies and one of her cats social aggros me and I kill the both of them. she starts crying that I'm KSing her. I pull another, she dies again. Then, on the next pull, she trains her swarm next to me and then dies again. She repops on the dock and says "haha they're all yours". So I have maybe seven cats on me and feign. Fails. Feign again at 20% or so and it takes, just as she's running past. Cats catch up with her as she's looting her corpse and kill her again. Shadowknight FD > Bard Train Smiley: grin

She left shortly after. In the time it took for me to get about four blues, she must have lost nearly two gold. Yay bard kiting!

Boring weekend, for the most part. I had to take a little break from EverQuest.

On Saturday I logged into FV and decided to mess around with the monk I started there probably a year ago. Level 31, so I figured I could make some quick and easy experience in Dawnshroud Peaks.

Upon arriving I kill a few zelniaks, then find a nice quiet spot to bandage myself up. As I'm going at it a level 60 something cleric comes by and buffs me. Cool, just a nice guy I suppose. We chit chat and he says that he logged on to rez his alt, and as he's camping a little ranger approaches and demands a rez.

The cleric simply says no, and camps about 5 seconds later. I figure oh well and get back to pulling when a level 65 necromancer appears and starts to wreck every kill of mine. I ask what his problem is and he says, "You wouldn't have your cleric friend rez my alt that's bad form jerk."

I just camped. There was nothing I could do against this guy, he had anonymous on so I couldn't see his guildname and I obviously stood no chance at outdamaging his huge DoTs.

The rest of the weekend I felt rather disgruntled everytime I thought about playing the game, and just got some work done that I've been putting off. Maybe I'll pick it up in a few days.

FYI, /guildstatus <target> will show a guild title even with /anon going. It'll also say if the person is a member, officer or unguilded.

Just to be clear about my rant, nothing I did would come close to breaking the PnP. I pulled unengaged mobs and attempted to kill them in safe distance from the other players in the zone. Really, she could have kept herself quiet and we'd have co-existed just fine except that she took affront to my being on her island and killing cats before they had a chance to kill her.

Well recently EQ has seen some developments on my part.

I left my former guild. Differences of opinion, a change in guild ethos and an incident I could not resolve. I decided I could not stay there.

I recently re-rolled one of my characters. I love the ranger class but .. playing a male ranger is not me. So I re-rolled a sol ro, almost elemental flagged character for!!! A ranger called Jenii Smiley: laugh

I twinked her with an ikky Bp, lamentation and lupine dagger and set her to work. I soloed her near to 22 and then PL'd her to 52 where I have grouped her since. Now 56 with one fight to having her epics (keeeeeel jaaaeeeelll!)

I saw the raiding association I applied to reach the elemental planes Smiley: yippee GO GO planar campaign !

I saw Ikkinz for the first time on a wonderfullly run raid on friday. Defeated some glorication thingy and other devilish creatures. It was a hoot

Why Jophiel, you devil! Smiley: sly

Got in tons of play time on Saturday. I joined my husband in a group with a friend and some others in BoT. It was just kill, kill, kill. It was a great group! Later that night we went on a small raid in the Plane of Storms. Our target were those big bugs in the trees. We got everything cleared, popped the named and then things got ugly. We just didn't have the fire power to take him out. The information on this encounter is pretty scant, so we were a bit baffled about the best approach. A good time and a few deaths were had by all.

Last night we spent a couple hours in the Deep farming lucid shards for guildmates. Everyone who needed one got their shards.

All in all it was a very productive weekend, game wise.

Not like anyone cares but...

Dinged 34 and 35 with my Ikky monk on FV. Duoing with my RL wife - 38 (now - she dinged too) druid. We are working CoV faction kiting Frost giants.

The only thing that sucks worse than going LD while running straight at the giant's city is a dial-up connection.

Went back to SK to beat up on the gnolls until the druid could barely walk (lots of fine steel), but exp crawls.

Good weekend all in all since we did not run into any clueless Bards (or clueless anything else).

O.K., now that I'm actually doing interesting things, I guess I can post an update... Fun for me if for no one else ;)

Friday: Went to DSP and fear-kited L Zels for hours and hours, with a BB LDoN break inbetween. Ding 45. Ding 46. Did another BB LDon. Got my first guild invite, seem to be good folks. Got an invite late to the DL, great news since I'd been wanting to go. Got into group and Zerker said she'd been pulling all day, so I offer to take over and in about 10 minutes I've got the groups rhythm and am pretty much chain pulling non-stop. Was a good group, and we agreed to meet the next day.

Saturday: Got a /tell from group I was in from Fri night, looking to go to Karnor's. Spent about two hours there, and had a kindly 65 chanter hanging around to control any messes that might occur... lol. Ding 47. Group broke up when a couple had to leave. Got a /tell from some people I met in a LDoN the day before that were taking their mains (mid-50's) to Nadox and invited me to tag along. Was great, had never been to zone. After half an hour they decide to go to Hate's Fury, which was even cooler. Dropped a named (Cabin Boy, or something close), and I won my first decent piece of loot- the Carm of Solitude. Finally, a place for my Adventurer's Stone! Got my second guild invite. What a great night that was.

Sunday: Back to Exp grinding, went to CoM to explore, as I hadn't been there before.. Had to zone split the golem guardians. Took forever to take down the one, luckly the second had despawned. Made about 6 more tough kills inside before getting a wandering add. Root, root, root......run. Dinged 48 in EJ pulling to valley walls. Few more LDoNs, one of which got wiped out on 2nd pull because of asshat leader who ignored me saying that the group couldnt handle a hard. My first fail, thanks Milikki you arrogant little toad. Went to JP and hunted Griffs, nothing special to speak of there. Ding 49. Joined a pick up group heading to PoJ, was excited since I'd never been. No one told me that the rats aggroed to wolf form, and 5 of them swarmed me. Back to 48. While recovering in PoK, rest of group decides LDoN is safer, lol, and I agree. Do a EF and ding back to 49. One final LDoN before bed, at BB. Good group, but Monk catches a bad break and pulls nine, yes, nine mobs including the named. One root was all I got off before the darkness descended. Tank had just enough time to grab final collect, adventure a success. Cleric was smart enough to run and was able to rez quickly, and we smoked the named before heading out.

I havent really played in about 3 weeks. Got hooked on
Warlords IV and then went out and got a second copy as Elne likes it as well.

The past weekend saw me at the Professional Boardgame Players (formerly called Avalon Con) convention. Didnt win any tournaments but saw old friends and won a few games.

Friday - Having hit a bit of a lull in EQ's appeal (I Get those every few months) I spiced things up by creating a Bard. Great class, but carpal tunnel syndrome is nowhere near as much fund as folks make out.

Saturday - Chilled in the sunshine. Read books. Tuned most of my guitars without breaking a single string! Go me! Levelled the Beastlord to 51 in Torgiran Mines.

Sunday - Got the Bard to 19. Threw some musings onto my User Journal purely in the name of vomiting some words onto the screen.

Monday - RL Employer Faction Quest. Definitely need some casting skill-ups. Having Ding'd 10 with my current employer I'd thought my ability to Feign Work would be maxed right now, but continues to Fizzle repeatedly. Wonder if they've nerf'd it Smiley: frown

My necromancer dinged 42 and is now only a couple blue from 43. Played around with guildies in Aude Sapere--including a nasty encounter with those blasted Brownie Scouts in L Fay. Convinced a friend from former server to make an alt on Morden. And finally found the maze beneath Cabilis. My little warrior alt went exploring. Was quite fun.

Also, managed to add to my collection of rare mob sightings...so far have seen the AC twice (in South Ro) after playing since 2000, I'd never seen the AC, never mind kill him. Over the weekend, saw the gnome necromancer in Qeynos Hills for the first/only time. She didn't drop anything amusing tho.

After an extremely solid week of back flagging every night and hitting multiple targets per night, a very tired and mildy stressed raid force gathered at BoT to do one last Agnar run.

Within seconds of moving into Agnar we had a series of client crashes. The offtankers lost some healers, some of the offtankers went down, people couldn't log back in because of server sync and we had a slow agonising wipe as Agnar killed the remainder of the force off one by one. Very painful after taking out RZ twice on the trot.

RL wisely called it a night to let people regain some sanity.

Spent Saturday configuring and re-installing my new PC, no more raid lag, Smiley: yippee Smiley: yippee

Sunday, decided to go check out the Taelosian Temple at Nedaria's Landing again. Found out that Iluien still can't tank the goddamned rats Smiley: mad

Went and did a Mirragul's LDoN, finished with 47 mins to spare. Decided to go after the named that was way up the other end of the zone. Died twice trying to break through a room full of casters.

Came to the conclusion that I should have listened to the RL and taken the weekend off Smiley: frown
