100% weight reductionFollow

Hi all!

I have heard that there is a (summond) bag that gives 100% weight reduction, sounds exelent for a monk like me. If there is such a bag, how do you go abouts to attain them? (is it like donating for SoW).

Now for next question. As I understand it I have to buy my monks abilitys, but where???

And finaly my last question. How do I go about training Feign Death?

low lvl shamans and high lvl mages both get those packs but few people actually use them because these are summoned NO RENT so once they vanish (happens when the toon carrying one logs off for longer than apr. 30 min) everything that was inside is also lost!

Since this spell is somhow considered dangerous most casters don't even bother to buy it and high lvl ones certainly don't memorize it. When I started a barb shammy myself I was at first glad to be able to offer it to other noobs but I got tired somehow of issuing a warning to everyone I gave one to so at one point I started pretending I didn't know the spell if I was asked fo a Spirit Pouch :/

Monks can make good(=safe) use of this if they store only summoned food& drink and summoned throwing daggers in it maybe.

I know a mage that bagged his robe, very expensive one in no rent bags then logged off. Very high price to pay, he could of bought Tinkers Bags for that loss.

There is a 100% WR bag for monks made of cloth instead of leather that actually weighs near to nothing. Tinkers Bags weight 1.0 I believe which can still weight down a monk. The bags geared for Monks are extremely expensive but they do exist.

Low level shamans and low level mages. Mid level mages get a six-slot version (upgraded from the 4-slot pouch).

I rarely memorize it simply because, well, who doesn't already own bags? Even in the course of normal newbie hunting you wind up with more small and large bags and backpacks than you can shake a dead goblin whelp at.

My monk has used the shammy packs before. Quite useful. Since I almost never left much on my monk when I camped him, I did not usually run the risk of forgetting about items in no-rent packs.

Not going to rehash the bag question, since it has been well answered already. But I will suggest you look into Bags of the Tinkerers (wt 1.0) or Leatherfoot Haversack (wt. 0.6). Both will give you 100% reduction and are 10-slot.

You could possibly get to where you can make the haversacks yourself; they are player made (halflings) with Tailoring (251 trivial).

I don't remember his name, but go to the library in PoK. Enter on left side, turn left immediately inside. He is the second or third NPC right inside the doorway. It says "Monk Tomes" under his name.

Make a hotkey and push it lots and lots and lots and lots of times. Did I say you would have to use it a lot of times?

Here's a little trick that might help you work the skill. Make a macro hotkey. Here is the macro I use...

/attack off
/doab 1 (you need to add FD to your abilities list, if you didn't guess that already.)
/stand
/doab 2 (I also happen to practice my begging skill, at the same time. Nothing like begging money from mobs I am killing.)
/attack on

Now, there are different schools of thought on whether it is better to have the '/attack off' line or not, since FD does it automatically. Use as you see fit. I don't need the extra line, in my macro (right now), so I have left it there.

Once you have this macro, you can use it while fighting mobs. Hit it, you FD, stand up, beg, then start fighting again. All in less than a second. And, for begging, since monks have low CHA, WIS, and INT, skill-ups are even harder than FD. :/

Some other tips...

* Practice Bind Wound. This is your friend. BW, at 190 skill, is good for ~900 hp/stack of bandages.

* Practice Mend. You will not see the full benefit of mend until after 75. Your failure rate is < 0.001% over 100. If you are in a group, with a good cleric, use mend even if your health is 100%. Practice, practice, practice.

I have also created a macro, for groups, where I have this:

/doab 3 (mend ability #)
/g Mend is down. Please watch my health.

Most healers know monks have mend. This helps them to know when you need them to keep an eye on you, and when not. Also, let them know when it is available again. That makes one less person they have to work to keep alive...unless the **** hits the fan.

* Work all your attack skills. 1hb, 2hb, and h2h. Keeping them all close to max will make it easier to switch to a new weapon, if you get a nice one.

* STR helps with damage output. DEX helps with weapons wielding. AGI helps with damage avoidance. STA adds to your hps. Definitely work on the first 3. HPs can always be buffed. (47 monk, Virtue, Focus of Soul, other 65 shammy buffs, ~3750 hps).

* Learn how to pull, and split mobs (FD is important for this). High-end, that is where a monk excels. You pull 1 to group, your group thrives and gains xp. You pull 2 (or more) to group, your group may die a horrible, shrieking death...

Magicians can summon a 4, 6 and 10 slot 100% WR bag. They can also summon bandages. At higher levels, they can also summon some rather handy shurikens, which monks seem very fond of.

Yes, it will vanish (along with the contents) 30 minutes after you log off. If you're carrying something very valuable, put it in a permanent bag immediately. Part of my logoff ritual is to open any summoned bags to ensure they're empty and destroy them.

Pay attention and the only time it's a problem is if a server goes down.

As to the comment that noone even memorizes the spell because it's so dangerous; I'm level 65 and Gift of Xev (10 slot bag, stack of food, water and bandages) is in my "start up" bank of spells. Shocking, I know, that a level 65 doesn't have the money for the multiple tinker's or other similar bags.

Until you can afford the best bags, just /ooc and politely ask if a magician will summon some bags for you.

I agree 100% with Yanari. I have a Mage and I frequently summon 5 Gift of Xev (100% weight reduction, 10 slot, Hold giant item bags)right at the beginning of my evening. I do alot of hunting in Nadox and Torgiran and I find that any goodies (gems and such) I don't want to lose if I go link dead go in one of the three regular bags I carry. Then I just fill up the summoned bags with weapons and shields that drop and sell them at the end of the night.

Yea, 5 bags of weapons worth 5pp each is not alot but it adds about 250pp at the end of the night. Since I am by no means rolling in the plat, it adds up for me. If I go link dead I don't loose anything special. I also have the same ritual Yanari mentioned at the end of the night. I check every summoned bag for an item then usually destroy the bag to make sure I clear them out.

So, to the one question still standing, Emmo was right about the Monk tomes in library, but it was all high lvl tomes 50 or so with the exeption of one (Focus will, think it was, not sure).

So any info on where to find:
Dragon Strike
Leg Sweep
Nerve Strike
Wind of Force
Resistant Discipline
Grapple
Rapid Jab
Whirlwind Kick
Phantom Zephyr
Ton Po's Defense

These abilitys looks so great so it would be a great loss not to use them.

While I haven't sorted through all my tomes, in 4 or 5 levels, and there may be a new one I can use, the only ones I have are Throw, Resistance and Focused Will. And I find Focused Will is really the only one I am using now.

I thought I had purchased all of the tomes from that one vendor. However, there are several shared tomes, that you may have to search out. Also, Alla's lists the vendors that sell which tomes. But be aware that several of the tomes, you listed, are not in game. They were planned, maybe even Beta'd, but have yet to make the game.

I know you can get the actual list from monkly-businesss, but I will see if I can dig it up, for you.

To start feign death so you can have the hotkey, go to your monk trainer. (Monk guild master in pok, freeport or qeynos) Find it on the training list and put at least one point into it. All skills must be handled this way.
