Is It Fair ??Follow

Alright I had this situation and I'm sure many others have. What do you do when you do a camp check and your fav camp is open. So you make your way to it and get ready to start the killen when a group shows up saying they had wiped and the camp is theirs. Is it fair to tell them to bugger off? Or should you let them have it back?

P.S. they got the camp back..by force

They died, they weren't there - end of story.

Most people live by that motto. It's too easy for people to lie.

This is a reason I NEVER camp grouped, because if we have to argue about a camp with somone else things bet nasty or ridiculous and in the end become simply a waste of time. For group adventure I got LDoN.

Soloing I just move on if someone insists on going after "my" mobs - there's plenty enough to kill.

I wouldn't let em have it, the dilemma then is, do they hate you for ever and start KSing you? If you're in a guild then its even worse, because they may hate your guild, plus the fact that if they are in a group and you are solo then they will most probably be able to KS you pretty easy.

one of our rogues was soloing pov razors for ***** and giggles the other day, after killing two mobs she had a bunch of people come up to her demanding that she leave, saying they had just had to zone to go get their new cleric, and that they had the camp. got really pissy at her, eventually started trying to ks.. the funny thing? A jtb/eoe rogue apparently outdamages an entire pov group...

You're not required to give up the spot.

If you believe that they were genuinely wiped and made their way back with delay, then you may want to do so.

If you just don't want the hassle, then you also may want to give it up.

But the policy on this is that so long as someone else isn't engaging a mob, that mob is free game. So technically, you and they could hunt in the same camp without breaking the rules. It's just not very feasible.

If you tell them you have this 'spot' and aren't giving it up and they start trying to steal your kills after you've engaged a mob, that's when it's time to tell them you're turning in the logs from the event. Most people will reconsider at that point. Ones who know the rules will back off if they know they're wrong. Ones who don't will either back off because they might be wrong or often get really obnoxious, which makes it a clencher with the log.

Personally, I try to deal with people as nicely as possible. I'll walk off before I get into a confrontation over some mobs. The people may or may not go on my 'do not **** on them if they are on fire' list, depending on their behavior, but I'll just go kill something else. It's just not worth it.

I was in a group in MM the other day and the group decided to muscle in on another group. I left. Plain and simple, I don't want to be involved in that sort of behavior.

If they wiped and their corpses are still there, I'd let them have the camp. Otherwise, they've been gone too long or never had it in the first place.

Simple answer - If they weren't there, they can't claim the camp.

Complicated part - How to deal with it...

option #1 - Tell them to bugger off.
They may try to KS, but this can be remedied by threats and/or petitioning GM's (since KS is a true/official no no). They may just snag mobs that you have not hit yet (although a bit uncool, this is not against the rules since "camps" are not officially sanctioned).

option #2 - Let them have the camp - NOT, this may lead them to believe that they can claim camps that they are not attending.

option #3 - educate them on the normally accepted (unofficial) rules of camps. Like if you leave, you lose your right to claim it. And of course, grabbing mobs in someone elses camp is not very cool and will eventually make your reputation crap.

I usually go with option #3 as diplomatically as I can before some idiot has to get obnoxious and then I go midevil on they @ss (anyone arguing with me is usually unskilled and can be easily dispatched in a duel - in most cases).

Its a shame such things can be settled like with BF/GF....

"Oh yeah? You claim it is YOUR camp? You've been here first? So I say let the MOBS decide who's gonna have it!"

Just a question about reports/petitions for killstealing.

Do GMs regularly handle this kind of thing in the high-end game? The highest I've leveled is 55 so maybe they just ignore the sub-60s, but I don't really believe I've ever seen anyone dealt with in a timely fashion for an offense like killstealing.

Just the other day I had a 65 killstealing my group in the Overthere because we wouldn't rez his level 18 alt, and for two hours he popped in and out to nuke our mobs. We all reported and petitioned, and after spending 5 hours grouped there we never got a response. I logged after that, but one of my friends claimed he was on for a few hours after that and still nothing.

I have never petitioned about KS - because I was usually able to negotiate a solution, but I have had rapid responses on other issues like a quest that was bugged in Gukta (Nagrud bag quest was not working).
