Another noobish questionFollow

I tried to escape a mummy I mentioned some other thread also by hiding and it did't work. I experimented a bit after my CR in aggroing mobs, running away and hiding but they ALWAYS did attack. Its been a long time since I had a toon that did hide, invis or anything else and the question is:

Do monsters who have aggro on you see through hide/invis? The Zek server rules state that in PvP targeting is lost as soon as somone goes invis but it seems that that does not work for mobs too - or did I just fail all of the time?

if mob aggros u and u invis/hide the mob will come after you anyway,PvP is different cuz they lose their target as u said

i was afraid so.....and what if I am in a small group and everybody dies while I hit with my bow and hide once the last of my brave companions fall - will the mob have me on his aggro list on top suddenly and come after me?

Yes they see thru invis once you agro them. It won’t work at all on undead…those bastards see thru it all. I dunno maybe mobs can just sniff you out now that they are pissed at you.

Not all undead see through - the low lvl mummies in NR at least passed by as long as my rogue was hidden.

also a lot of undead see thru regular ivis. YOu would need invis undead to not be detected by mobs such as muumyes and skeletons. If you have aggro though nothings going to help you though

Last I checked, any mob that has you on their hate list can always find you even if you invis. Dunno if that's a bug or a feature, but it's the way it works.

Distance can break agro but it isn't full proof. Last night I had three mobs on me. I FD and the cleric healed me and the main tank so he was on the next to kill list. Tank died and my pet held off the three mobs from the cleric in time for him to invis and move far enough away to break his own agro with the mobs. Had he not moved the right distance once my pet died he would of been the next victim. To ensure they didn't remember him when he returned he zoned to clear all agro then returned.

Once you have aggro'd a mob, you are in trouble. A few classes can escape from this; Monk/Necro/SK (FD), Bard (Fading Memories) and Rogues (Escape).

Maybe a well times mem-blur might work, but I wouldn't rely on that in most scenarios.

Also, I have noticed with my 42 rogue that rogue hide seems to have an undead component to it. Regular invis does not. I have been able to hide/sneak past some undead in the past (spamming C incessantly, heh) where normally only invis undead would work. I have not, however, been able to confirm this with any documentation, only experiment on truly scary corpse recoveries.

So I guess my point is you cant really test invis or regular hide by using rogue hide, cuz it seems to have a bit more going for it, vs undead.

If any rogues out there have some helpful info on the subject, I am all ears (eyes, whatever).

Thanks in advance

yes rogue hide works on most mobs in the game, undead or not. However, as with regular hide, once your on the hate list they will find you even if hidden.

LOL, yes, I have direct experimental evidence of that, too! I was partnering in Warslick Woods as a wee rogue tad, and my partner got one too many giants on him out of the fort. So in my childish confidence in my roguely powers, I would back stab, fade, back stab, fade trying to help save the situation, ignoring the advice to run, run, after all, i could always just hide, right?

Wrong. He died, then they came after me. Children, can you say, Oh, s**t! smack, smack, loading please wait. Now I have to sneak back here from OT (before the books).

Hide or invisible does you no good once you get agro, only getting outside agro range will help end it.

Chanter is often able to mez or root a mob and then move far enough away in the meantime to end agro when it breaks.
