Leadership pointsFollow

Ok, I recently got the rest of the EQ expansions so leadership exp is now available to me to use.

I've been slowly 2-boxing an Iksar monk and Barbarian shaman lately on Morden Rasp. I turn leadership exp on when the barb is leading and I have them in a group so he can get the exp. It has slowed his exp down enough that the two characters level within a couple of kills of each other. I intend to keep them the same level as much as possible (just cuz I said so).

So, here's my question for thos eof you who have been using leadership a while. Where should I spend my points? I've only accrued 1.5 so far, so it's not a burning issue...yet.

I'd spend them in either mana enhancement first, then health regeneration. Anything that will keep your people down less is good. save the target ones for last seeing as those can be assigned by word of mouth.

I spent my first points in mana enhancement (only got 3 pts before I turned it off as grind in 50s is a pain even without Leadership).

For 2 boxing this should be fine (I 2 box my clc & pally), but for full sized groups, the mark the target (helps those assisting and crowd control since it make clear who is current target) and the one that lets you know what spell the mob is attempting to cast (forgot the name) I feel are more important.

My chanter does a lot of LDONs, and those 2 are the ones I see the most now.

Overall, not sure the 20% exp diversion is worth the enhancements, but others may have a better idea.

I, just this past weekend, purchased GoD and received my first initiation to Leadership points.

I am struggling with the issue of 20% xp going to Leadership. I have been doing LDoNs, and what I have found is that my leveling is lagging behind many of the regular people I group with.

What I am going to try, to offset this, is soloing for a couple of hours. If this works, to bring me back in-line with my regular group, then I will turn Leadership back on and just solo every now and again.

I personally turn it on whenever I get a chance because in a group of 6 its pretty hard to get leadership if you didnt start the group yourself. I level slower than most people anyways because I like to do stupid stuff that kills me and I also do other things while on EQ.

I'm still kinda confused at how the OP got LEXP from only 2 people. my personal experience is that you can only get it with 3 or more people in the group.

I am also a tad confused here. You never used to get leadership Exp with only 2 people in group, you needed at least 3.

Easy enough to test later I suppose, will be happy if they have dropped it down to 2 in group, but does seem odd. You sure you getting leadership exp with only 2 in group?

As for which is best, that is very subjective and depends on your playstyle (3 boxed, grouped, raid?) and equipment. for grouping and especially raiding, Health of Targets Target is very useful, however that usefulness is reflected in the cost. If you're 3 boxing, then it's probably useless.

Health Enhancment is also a good one, and probably a bit more useful than Health Regen when you have a healer handy (basically, do you want more HP's or regen HP's faster?). Same goes for Mana regen; if your boxing that shaman/monk then niether probably need more mana regen (monk doesn't need it, shaman can canni).

Mark target is nice, but even with a big glowing ring around the MA's target, the "target by F8" crowd will still break mez all over the place <smile>

It does require 3 members to get leadership exp. I only turn it on when there are 3 or more and the barb is leader. Keeping it on only part of the time is treating me right when trying to get both characters to level at the same time.

Health of Target's target is the most useful in my experience. It allows the healers to watch mob health or assist heal if people are dieing (especially useful in raid situations). More important for group is that it allows the tank to see when someone else has taken agro so they can immediately use the taunt key to get it back.

I actually have a couple questions about HoTT. Where exactly does the health display? I only kinda looked at it briefly (haven't been doing any LA myself, since there are several people far more along in AAs in my guild then I who take care of all that). Is it a hotkey you have to push to get the health? Or does it actually appear somewhere on the mob (like the mob health thingie?). I don't know why, but I seem to recall a hotkey being involved and I thought it was this ability.

One of the things to remember is that most tanks don't fight in 3rd person view and are too close to the mobs they are fighting to be able to see things like letters up above their heads. I remember commenting on another LA thread that desginate MA seemed kinda useless to me since the target ring on the ground wasn't really that useful for targetting. I'd been in dozens of groups with folks using the ability and not once did I notice that it puts little marks around the name above the mob (making it really easy for a CCer to now if he's got it targetted or something else). Since I'm usually MA, and I'm short (dwarf), and I use 1st person view when tanking, I literally had never seen it.

I'm wondering if this is yet another ability that I've really never taken advantage of simply because I've never seen it in action, or seen how it could be used. I actually find the LAs interesting in that regard because they are used differently by different class roles in a group.

I'll put in my favorite ability though. I think Spell Awareness is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Course, I play a paladin, and interrupting spell casts is one of my jobs in a group/raid. Knowing that the mob is stopping to cast a 200DD on me instead of a CH on himself is huge (I'll let him waste his time reducing his dps by casting a nuke on me, but will definately want to stop the CH from landing). It's also useful for catching those annoying people who insist that they aren't casting dumb spells in combat and taking agro from you. When everyone in the group can see that ranger casting flame lick 8 times during the battle, your case becomes a bit stronger... ;)

HoTT appears as a extra windows on the screen, it's pretty well just like the target window so you can drag it around and stick it where you want.

To enable it you neee to make a hotkey and activate it (everyone who wants it needs to do this, not just the leader). You need to make different hotkeys for Group and Raid versions of the ability (which is a bit annoying). Hotkeys are made the standard AA/LA method of select the Item, Click Make Hotkey, drag the key to where you want it.

As a paladin this AA can be fantastic on raids. Lets say the puller brings in 3 mobs, you use Cycle Targets to flick through all 3 targets. HoTT tells you Mob1 is on the MA (this is good), Mob2 is on another pally (also good), and Mob3 is agro on the poor slower (not so good). You know exactly which mob is not under control, and can grab agro, giving the chanters time to mezz (or the slower slow and you offtank).

As the MA, being able to tell instantly when you loose agro (and to who) is a massive help.

Pullers can see when they loose agro, both on pulls, and when FD.

Used to its fullest, HoTT is potentially one of the most powerful functions in the game. Combine it with the new Cycle targets and it is awesome.

I have been doing lead exp since lvl 25, i'm a lvl 54 cleric now, i love them, first ones i got where mark npc, delegate main assist, the only problems i've seen is when other ppl don't have GoD, then they can't see/use yer buffs, anyways, i have well over 80 leadership points and don't know anyone else on Xev with as many as me...most ppl say lead exp is not worth it, but i totally disagree, send tell to Fixenuup if you play on Xev if you want more info.

Okay, dumb question time.
I get messages of "you gain Leadership experience" when I start the group. From the looks of this thread this takes away from my standard experience points. I'm not sure I like that.
How do you see how many 'leadership points' you have and how do you turn it on and off? Oh and how are they used?
Thanks for your input and help.

Just using your 'L' key should provide you with the screens, and information needed, to answer your questions.

As for how/which to use your Leadership points...well, that is a completely different discussion, since everyone has their preferences. hehe
