Title speaks for itself, I think. Which zones have been most enjoyable for you in your EverQuest career?

I haven't been there in a long time, but I remain very fond of Blackburrow to this day. When I first started playing the game it was the first zone where I really got a chance to socialize and experience the team-play aspect of EQ, and I made a few friends in my time there that I still love grouping with to this day. Hell, I hold them over a lot of my guildmates. I even get sentimental thinking about it, because it was always so much friendlier and pleasant than Paludal Caverns, which seems to have replaced all the zones people used to use up to level 25.

I am a 46 war and at the moment I love Crystal Caverns. The reason for this is not the xp (which is nil) but the general layout and look of the place. I have posted before about the value of exploring and this place rocks, also the loot is VERY good here.
Blackburrow I think is everybodies favourite starting dungeon, people are still friendly there and there is no scrabbling or nastiness that you find at Pc.

Got to agree, still being new I've only been to the obvious zones and PC was one of them. That is certainly my least favourite though, non stop angry teen it's not fair. I up and left.

Have thoughly enjoyed
BlackBurrow
Gfay
Crushbone
Castle Mistmoore

BB is the best so far simply due to layout.

Liverpool - Pah

LOL, ;-)

I would have to say solb. I use to love that place. Now days it is Nurga. My beast spends a lot of time there these days soloing. Fun zone a few drops and no one is there to bother you.

The Chess Board in BB
Karnors Castle

All hold fond memories for me

I love the atmosphere of Dulak, with the dark, creepy buildings and lonely sounding (reef?) bell off in the distance. Kaesora is pretty enjoyable too, similar creepy atmosphere.

Katta is a beautiful zone, its almost like it belongs in a completely different game. It's so remote that I think allot of people never even see it.

Howling Stones (Charasis) is amazing! When you zone in, firstly you need to be invis as the wandering mobs are on your head, you are on a suspended carved stone platform hanging in mid air. If you jump up on the railing, you can see for eternity above and below you. Combine that with a Velks type evil melody and you have yourself one creepy and amazingly detailed zone.

I think you're right it is a beautifull zone, and good hunting too. But true deserted.

Other day I took a stroll starting in Marus Seru, through Mons letalis, The Grey, Scarlet Desert, Twighlight Sea, Katta, Tenebrous Mountains, Grimling Forest, Hollowshade and finally got to Shar Val before I saw another soul.

All those places deserted.........

The Nexus, what happened to the days where Nexus was the PoK? If you wanted a port, you went to the nexus, if you wanted kei of virt you went to nexus.

Unrest .....boy o' boy was Unrest fun back in the day.

Agrees with Unrest. Trains and all, it was a hoot.

I liked Cazic-Thule before they toughened it.

Gotta be Cazic before the raised the level. Was such a great place. People were truly beginning to learn how to play their class. If you didn't know going in in the last 20's, you sure as hell know by the time you got out at 35. Trained people well for LGuk. Also, was just cool :)

Crushbone
Befallen
Unrest

All of these were fun zones to learn the ropes of the game.

Also liked Splitpaw & Aviaks area.

Also liked the swamp for the Froggies after they ousted the trolls since I had not been there (all my previous characters had been dwarves & elves).

Lower Guk, and Veksar. both for my Necro. my bard, just leveled to fast to really get a fav. zone. maybe Oasis as i was swarming the 9 specs there as soon as i got my first charm song.

Favourites for me were Feeroot both pre and post the level changes. Camping the pyramids solo was my first major zone for all new Characters, and when they raised the levels to a 30 - 40 zone I got to do it all over again....hehehehe :-)

Also Cazic Thule pre the level raise was a great place to be from mid 20s to mid 30s. Still love the place now my main and alts are 60+, but ya just can't get a pick up group there the way you used to...ah well..!

Unrest was always a kewl place too, great when I was levelling up my cleric.

And who could ever forget HHP when it was a FFA zone.

Memories ehhhh...............the newer high level zone will never be quite the same..............god I love EQ :-)

low level: Crushbone, probably the best designed zone in the game. Lots of accessable quick spawning camps with named that drop comparitively good loot for the level.

Mid level: Teneb Mountains or Dreadlands: again good camps and lots of them so that multiple groups can hunt without a cursefest.

Lower high: Plane of Innovation: good veriaty of mod style <can't slow or snare etc> they requires a competant group to hold the camp but has an easy way out that allows you to learn how to be competant.

can't say about high end since i'm not Smiley: wink2

I am also a fan of the MM cave style LDoN's they are just more fun than the room ones.

For an early level dungeon both Befallen and later Najena are really a ton of fun. Too bad the XP in these zones are not as good as PC. The "need a key to advance (or backtrack)" issue makes these zone far more difficult, especially if the one person holding the key dies. These are great zones for learning the fine art of group communication and coordinated attacks. Unfortunately Najena is a little hard to get to for low level good aligned characters without an invisibility potion/spell.

I've had a few favorite zones in my time.

Befallen -- a beautiful looking old world dungeon. Interesting set up with varoius keys in different places. The well sucks tho!

Kael Drakkel -- something about killing giants is just fun. Sucks as a gnome though =(

Temple of Veeshan (mainly entry and the middle room) -- Just looks great. Walking around waving at dragons is fun too :)(Ssra is nice too, but haven't been there much).

City of Mist was always a favorite of mine. Decent exp in the mid-low 40s, and just fun to hang in. Haven't been there much since revamp though.

I could go on and on about favorite zones, but I will quickly finish :).

Other favories include: Paineel (it's a great city), Hate (if you don't count the lag), Najena (fun low level place), Karnor's (just to sit at zoneline and watch the train fest.), Nadox, Dulak, Stoneburnt (nice and peaceful, used to spend several hours there killing, and would be lucky to see more than one other person in zone the whole time I was there), The Hole, Charasis is a beautiful zone as well (though I've only spent one evening there), Veksar, and more that I've forgotten.

My all-time favorite though, is ToFS. I absoultely love this zone (should go back more often..ahh the time). Esthetically it is beautiful, both inside and out. The keyed aspect makes each floor feel like a different zone. The exp and drops here are pretty good for the level, and the difficulty is right where it should be.

Feen's Small Text List of zones he doesn't like: Crushbone (/ooc drama), PC (/ooc drama, poor grouping/personal skills), Highkeep (same as above), OT (boring as hell), DL (boring as hell, PC 2.0), PoJ (basement and caves are ok, other ones are bad), KC (hunting here sucks...PC 3.0), PoStorms (never got into this zone...just find it boring), BoT (PC 4.0, getting into towers now, which are new and nifty...but the wing camps are boring)

The best zone music ever belongs to Rivervale...it always cheers you up...and the zone layout is great as well. Everything is easy to find and you truly feel like you've found a hidden city in the hills. :) WOOOOOOOOT!

All time favorite is Sebilis. In my opinion, it's everything a zone should be: great atmosphere, a huge sprawling layout of many camps that don't step on one another's toes, a good sense of danger (provided you're not going in after it's near trivial), a rich sense of lore and a bad-*** boss mob.

Favorite starting city is Paineel. Not too big, no zoning between areas, nifty looking buildings and some cool NPCs.

I could go on about a bunch of other dungeons: the "towns" of Runnyeye and SolA are cool, the Warrens is a favorite, Kaesora is a neat crawl, Veksar is fun, etc. But Sebilis will probably always top the list.

Most worthless zone in the game is Emerald Jungle. Dark, annoying aggro, mobs drop crap for loot, the only named mobs are Sev and the BST epic guy. I say we throw City of Mist into Trak's Teeth, connect TT right up to Field of Bone and call it a day Smiley: grin

Not a long time player but spent a lot of time in Echo Caverns. The upper area with the mutants became a favorite. Well spaced and easy leveling. Quiet...Quiet...no camp fighting plus the bonus of the needlite room.

Also enjoyed Castle Mistmoor..unfortunately too many people there now.

Counting together where I did most enjoy playing with different toons on various servers my rankings are:

most liked:
1.LDoN in general (great graphics & sound)
2.Acrylia Caverns (one dungeon with a very distinctive atmosphere)
3.North Ro (I just love the lvl range, I've hunted with lvl 1-22 toons here)
4.Shadeweavers Thicket (having a bank inside your hunting zone just rocks)
5.Butcherblock (learned everything about grouping and camping there)

most hated:
1.Befallen (the spawn rate of the keyholders is ridiculous and the grapics just SUCK)
2.Field of Bones (I did more running than hunting here due to the layout and merchants residing on upper lvls)
3.Misty Thicket (felt like made with a random generator)
4.Lesser Faydark (running into shadowed man, KOS brownies and the corrupt unicorn constantly drove me nuts)
5.Ak'anon (the reason I deleted my gnome was the layout of the city - just a big noisy jogging lane)
