Ive just started a bard but im having trouble understanding the use of instruments.
1. what are they for?
2.Ive heard they can do stuff to songs is this true and if so how come it doesnt show up on the item discription?
3.Any other info on bards would be a great help as this is a new class for me and i have no clue on them.

Instruments enhance the effect of songs played with them, that use that instrument type. For example, Selo's is a percussion song. If played while holding a drum, you will run faster than if you were not. The exact amount of the increase depends on a couple things:

(1) The instrument mod. You'll notice on intruments it says something like "Percussion 18". That's the modifier. To get the final results, you'd do something like (base movement increase)x1.8 = modified movement increase. Simply put, higher mods are better.

(2) The song. Some songs have caps on how high their effect can go. Some restrict certain effects (a lute will enhance the hp regen effect of songs, but not the mana regen effect of the same song). Finally, some are jusy irrational (you won't be able to breath "more" water by using a flute with the enduring breath song).

I'd have a hell of a time explaining bards from the ground up, but you're welcome to ask specific questions. For a website, EQ Diva is a great beginner's bard resource.

Thanks for that.

i have 1 more question are modifiers stackable?
#4 Jun 28 2004 at 2:48 PM Rating: Default
It all depeneds on the type of mod. a Hand Drum mod will stack with, say a Painted Primal Mask, which has a string insrtument(lute.) But say, A Drummers Main-Guache, which has a percussion mod,(drum) will not stack with a Thunderous Drum of Karna(TDoK, Also drum.)

Same as focus effects. You can have a Mana Pres II and an Extended Range III item at the same time, but having a Mana Pre II & III item only gets the benefit of the MP III item.
