Well im just getting back into EQ from playing FFXI( No end game,..omg why!?).
I think that EQ has undergone some great new things to make it a really enjoyable gaMe.

However, my friend tells me Lineage 2 is the best game ever and i just have to play it so we can all play together. It seems like just a long lvling grind . Mouments in Lineage 2 seem to be more fun all the time with its interesting sense of style.

Has anyone else tried to decide between the 2 games? and what choice did you make?

What are your opinions of the game?

I'd go for lineage 2 over everquest, but that's just because I like all the new games:)

Lineage has better graphics, everquest has WAY more content. Those are the biggest differences in my opinion.

And there's the key right there, are you impressed by flashy, new, substanceless graphics, or content?

Everquest has plenty of content, but no one uses it. Most people roll up their character, PoK-book it to buff city, and then hit Paludal, High Hold, and Dreadlands to level 50. That can be done in about 3 days of playing. Now you begin the second part of your "grind" to level 65 and 300 aa by impressing your groupmates with your resounding lack of knowledge about the game and your class.

Many people multi-box several bots/characters at once so they can solo without the bother of interacting with the other people around them. You can buy and sell gear in the bazaar using an automated interface that leaves out human contact. You can bind, port, and retrieve your corpses without ever seeing another player in this 'massive' 'multiplayer' game. Soon you will be able to whip out your credit card and through a secure Sony interface buy gear and level 65 characters to flesh out your solo bot team. If you want to actually play the game you have to share the content with macroing bots from Hong Kong that farm the games resources and convert it to rent $$ checks.

It wouldn't surprise me if farmers and plat dupers aren't using EQ generated $$ to support global terrorism. Each fungi tunic you buy from Yantis will help provide 1 car bomb in Greece at the Olypmpics. Please help our cause!

What part of this 4 zone grind fest best exemplifies the superb content? It's a $$ oriented gear-envy level treadmill from start to finish and all without the modern graphics of its competitors.

Woot, Go Sony. Rah Rah EQ. Smiley: wink

Samatman- BEST POST I'VE EVER READ- CONGRATS!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!! So true....so VERY true....you forgot to leave out LDoN as one of the zones to level from 1-50 in. This game is nothing but a gear-envy game, nothing else. I'm so f@ckin sick and tired of people linking their gear and shouting it out to everyone, "hey guys, look at my new @#!@#!@!" Gimme a break...SOE f@cked everything up when they made it more possible to loot better drops then reward people for hard-earned quests. The gear off quests 90% totally suck compared to what some twinked guy wins off a random group roll in the planes. SOE needs to update the quests on here to give out much better rewards, or people will finally say..."ok, you've got the planes, bazaar and LDoN and that's it...yea! what now??" Samatman, keep the truth rollin...I don't know about the terrorism, but your quotes on EQ are right on brutha.

My former guild leader has switched over to Lineage 2 and has taken most of the former guild with her, and they all say Lineage 2 is far better than EQ. But I have yet to take their word for it, and will wait awhile before I decide whether or not to go to L2 or go back to EQ

I've been a very active member of FFXI till recently when I went looking for something else.

I tried L2 and at first, I was highly impressed by it. Very nice graphics and character animations (all 3 of them). But after the first week I began to become associated with what people have criticized it for.

1) Bots....all over...can't get away from them. They sit and farm money to sell on EBAY and other sites. You can go to game money sites and see about a price reduction in however so much millions of adena (L2 currency) about every 3 days because it was becoming so inflated. And thats only about 2 weeks after release of the game to NA. Not only that though, but alot of the bots would flat out KS you over and over again. Your trying to hunt and here comes the bot to wipe out your mob and pick up the money and go on to everything else in the field. It was annoying.

2) Very restricted society. As I said I come from FFXI, which is about 65% Japanese... but then when I tried L2 I was very frustrated with the foreign population. Chinese people flood the areas. The few local dungeons their where in the game where completely occupied by them. Their was nothing you could do.... if their was a translator at least, then something might have been accomplished. But since not, the politics of the game where shot. The idea of it was supposed to be that guidls can take over areas and all... and others can barter and negotiate for items and access. But because of the laungage barriar, their is no bartering at all, well no bartering except EBAY because of the flood of Chinese people farming away with multiple accounts in order to sell to you to make money for food. I'm not a fan of starving people, don't get me wrong, but it annoys me when it messes up my game. And if you think I'm joking, checking out the EBAY auctions in broken English with location marks in China.

3) Bugs. You think EQ was bad a few weeks ago before the recent patches? Well L2 was multiple times worse. Ya theirs the falling through the floor bit...then getting chased by mobs under their. On top of that all NPCS would stop spawning...like waiting 20 minutes for a field rat spawn and stuff. That would happen very frequently....sometimes 3 times a day. And always it was followed by a server reboot. Then their where other numerous times the server would reboot with no reason.
Granted, I will give them credit for it being new and having some things to work out, but it was bad, very bad. I had to quite because I got this message that said "Irregular system speed" that would spam my chat dialog and then lag my system down. I know my system can run the game, it can run any game on the market now, was running L2 fine, ..just the L2 servers would gimp your connection for no apparent reason. After a week and a half of that, I quit L2.

4) Content. Ya this has been said... the game has no content. A quest involves "go collect 3 zombie heads and bring it back for money." Thats the depth of the game their so far. And the level grind was horrid compared to any other game except FFXI. Ya the monsters look cool, but the combat got incredibly boring after the first week when you realize theirs nothing else to this. Just level up and have ***** envy matches in /ooc about your gear and level compared to others. (And those saying that EQ is nothing more then that, well L2 is their too...but starts at about lvl 20).

5) Even the society in that game was horrid. Couldn't go for more then half an hour before having to listen to someone yell something like "Bush sucks" or "dude I'm getting so high" in the shout channel. This would always be followed by a 30 minute debate in shout. Ya it happens every now and then in EQ and FFXI, but damn I hated it in this game. Oh ya, at the time I played, no blacklist either so you had to listen to it.

6) Most annoying of all, and no I'm not a roleplayer really but it got annoying... no name filter.
So... Legolos2018952058, how is your day?
Mr.Buttsexyourmom0298402985402984029482 says "lolollol"
x092Xvlk02 says "stfunewbzor"

I was very dissappointed with the release work of NCSoft. The game was in beta...faulty servers, no content, no monitering of foreign populations abusing economy. It was very depressing. Damn it looked nice though, but thats not enough.

I might give NC soft another try with "Guild Wars" just because it has no monthly fee.

Edit: Oh ya, after I quit L2 I came back to EQ... haven't been dissapointed yet.

Nice comparison, but damn if it you flame broken-English speakers again while constantly misusing "their" instead of "there", I'm banning you to China.

#17 Jun 27 2004 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
Heh, not that I'm speaking broken English, just a lack and care to proof-read. Would you believe I'm a liberal arts major with English being one of my strong points?

Damn their/there... that always hurts me in the end.

Very few of the Chinese there knew broken English anyways, because none of them knew any.

It became a very common sight to see "rang rang" shouted in /ooc, which essentially means "get the hell out." Except for one guy, the most English I really saw from the Chinese was "out now."
