Eq 2 Release? Returining to Eq 1Follow

#1 Jun 24 2004 at 7:36 PM Rating: Decent
I have been away from Eq for about 3 to four years (as I explained in a previous post). I just recently obtained a new Pc and if the Lord is willing I will be returning to EQ. one thing I would like to know before I invest time into a EQ 1 return is ...

When is the estimated release date for EQ2?

I hope it is at least a year or so away, that way I can accomplish all the things I have planned on doing in EQ 1.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks......

Even when EQ2 is released, I think a large number of people will stay on EQ, I heard somewhere that they plan to keep EQ going for another 5 years???? I am not sure about that, but I want to accomplish certain things in this game as well, so I will be here for a year or 2 anyway. I would bet that I am not alone.

Last I heard it's "supposed" to be out in a couple of months but I highly doubt it. When it does finally come out I'll buy it and get to experience the game before Sony nerfs everything.

World of warcraft will be out in a few months as well. From what I hear most of the game is LDON style and you can do them solo. At least it's something a little differnt. The new class system in EQ 2 looks kina interesting as well. I believe it is saposed to come out in September and World of Warcraft in Octorber. Considering they started beta testing a few months after Blizzard you can bet the game will be more buggy since it will also be released earlier.

See how its just compared to everquest no matter what? its not original its "LDON style", i dont think there has been one original MMORPG since EQ came out, DAoC is EQ with slight alterations, WoW will be, wait, CoH is close to original, but its terrible. Long live EQ

EQ2 is supposed to be release somewhere around late October or early November (I believe the date is November 15th - just in time for Christmas). Software companies are notorious for moving product release dates around, as some features are complete and fully tested while others are not. Don't take this date as gospel. Gaming companies are the worst in the software industry for playing with release dates.

Being that Beta testing hasn't even started yet I would assume that date will be pushed out again.

It is looking like eq2 will be more geared for casual/1 group fighting as oppposed to raids in eq 1.

Seems like they will be very different games.

Well there was already talk that that type of thing was gonna happen in World of Warcraft before LDON was every mentioned. I think it's more like everquest takes whatever seems like a good idea from other companies and puts it in their game as quickly as possible.

Release Date on EQ2 has been pushed back approximately 4-5 times now (I've been watching it for a long time...) at about a 3 month push back each time.

But ya I say plan on it being near end of this year for competition to WoW.

PS. WOW = Leggo MMORPG

EQ2 Beta has started in U.S. also, but only for "Family and Friends", Stormhamme peeps are next i think. Being a long time legends subscriber I am gonna be really ticked if they push back my beta again.

Hi, Jim Nesselroad here.

Really? That would make my family really interested in EQ2. We three box at home (dad and 2 kids). We also have grampa and aunt and nephew who play. So we can get a full group of just family. And often we do. But none of us has 4-6 hours to devote to a raid style operation to try take down a big mob or a zone.

This is a quote from one of the muckity mucks from SoE at the Guild Summit. What he said was that they thought there would be enough interest for expansions on EQ1 to keep coming for 5 more years - not that the game would only go for that much longer. I think I read it Here.
