Happening to Anyone ElseFollow

#1 Jun 21 2004 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
So I decide to go to bed around midnight last night, so I set myself up as a trader in the Bazaar to sell while I rest my brain from EQ overload and when I look in the morning I am logged off with the message that I was logged off because I was inactive?

Since when is being a Trader inactive?

This has happened to me 3 nights in a row and I was wondering if anyone else was encountering this?

This was covered in a series of postings a few weeks ago.
A changed wording of the disconnect message is all that is happening. I get the same message when I get disconnected and dont try to reconnect for a few minuites or hours.
Go back to sleep now.

Yeah. What's happening is that if you go LD, you often get bumped to the server select screen. If you sit at the server select screen for more then a few minutes, you'll get bumped to the login screen with a message saying you were idle too long. I can only assume this is to prevent folks who aren't actually playing from using up resources on their world servers.

It does not mean that inactivity on a trader will cause you to get bumped.

And yet, I can leave my PC logged onto the character select screen for hours without disconnection. But the server select screen results in a timeout.

Funny isn't it ?

It might have something to do with the recent problems with the login server.

An attempt to reduce use of the login server maybe?

I have noticed im going LD once a day now never happen before what the heck are they doing to this game, there so called changes are making it harder and harder to play. not everyone is going to EQ2. are they trying to ruin Eq1 for this purpose? why not fix EQ1 then maybe a part 2.

One thing I have done is go to any place on the web i.e. Aol Chatrooms. Create chat by type anything in like dkfhaslkhlkasf and leave it on when you log on. so your connection will keep updating itself. you shouldn't go Ld that much

Actually there is nothing new about this. Any time you were in one of the chat rooms or at the server select screen, you would get dropped for inactivity. I used to sit in the chat rooms (when the Nameless was the Gameless) and would have to type something just to stay "active", even though I didn't have anything to say.

The problem is more, why are you going LD and reaching the server select screen?
