I'm Back in EQ!!!Follow

#1 Jun 21 2004 at 12:30 AM Rating: Decent
Hullo everybody!!!
after having thought about it for a while, and after having heard the great suggestions not only from the people in this forum, but from my uncle as well (who is an avid EQ PvP server player) I've finally cancelled my boring FFXI account and back in EQ!!!

I'll be starting off from scratch of course since I've been off EQ for over a year now. If you want to, look me up, I'll be in the Mithaniel Marr server, I'll be the Faydwer forest dwelling pure bred elf dressed in green and a bow strapped on my shoulder :)

Yours truly,
Tanidwen Foxfire (Foxfire when I reach level 20 though... so don't steal it! LOL!!)

BTW: might as well ask now before I level higher... Do rangers also get a knight steed (from AA points) too? (cuze I only remember my Pally having that ability a year back, but I didn't check.)

ok... guess I'll have to give up my ranger :( I was looking forward to having a ranger riding a horse without having to pay an enormous amount of PP :(

You're really making a choice about which character to play based solely on whether it gets a free horse?

Guess that's your choice, but there's a lot more to the game then that...

hmmm you guys do have a point... I'll consider it...
I really do like the horse though... guess I can grind some plat to get the horse... Another question... I know that there's a class that allows you to transform to wolf as well (instead of SoW) I could've sworn it was ranger... am I right?
In either case... I'm probly gonna go for a ranger since I think they're pretty cool :) But I like to know the info ahead of time though... I'm pretty sure that, that transform to wolf spell is for Rangers too, but I can't remember

A Ranger with a horse is a waste of Plat since they get sow and wolf form etc... might as well make a enchanter and max out wisdom. { makes no sense } how about a BST with a horse i use horses to med other use them to { they think they are} SHOW OFF.

Yes I do understand the advantages of SOW or wolf form, I'm not THAT dense!
But I'm still going to buy a horse nonetheless, so please, a little more respect and don't knock me for my decisions. This is after all a ROLE PLAYING GAME! it just wouldn't be a fantasy RPG without the option of horses. The same reason why it wouldn't be considered a good RPG if you didn't have the option of swimming to other islands, or jumping from high places. If these options weren't there (including horses) then EQ would just be another EXP grinding experience. I should know because this is exactly what FFXI is!!! only pretty graphics and alot of killing. and no, I'm not gonna buy a horse just to show off. I'm doing it because it would be FUN to have a horse! something to add to the character you're playing. You may think it's a waste, but I think there isn't anything more cool (at the moment of course) than seeing a big line of horses on two ends of a battle field (during a guild war or something like that) and seeing them march down towards each other clashing against each other. or play a messenger being chased by an enemy guild member, desperately trying to get to freeport to deliver news to his guild master. This is just a couple of reasons why horses are used. To add to your character, to add to your story in EQ! So next time, please don't knock the options of horses so easily, I can't think anymore of EQ without them as options. without them, and without the option of swimming and jumping. EQ is just another FFXI. Just another EXP grinding game, and I don't want that. Oh and another thing, the other great thing about EQ is that when the enemies see they can't beat you if you're too strong, they do the natural thing and try to escape like the cowards they are, which adds some spice to the game. In FFXI they just stay there

In terms of spider silk farming, where would be the best place for that now? (only level 5 at the moment unfortunately :( ) do you know of a zone that wouldn't be over crowded with people farming them? should I farm and sell the stacks at bazaar?

You obviously haven't ridden a paladin's horse Gbaji. They are amazingly fast and I am so so so glad I enjoy paladin and spent the AA's to get one.

Oh and to get a horse that comes close (but not equal) to a paladin horse costs > 100k PP. Even then it is slower and has a 3 sec summon time instead of instant summon. Also you can't hop on your purchased horse for CR's like you can a holy (or unholy) steed.

Just my props to good ole Misty my Holy Steed 8)

Im a 41 SK, and I can't wait to get that sexy 'Unholy Steed' as Jarlo put it (minus the 'sexy'...)

As for the best place to farm Spider silks...I do it in EK, (East Karanas, Antonica) near the canyon that leads to Highhold Pass.

Yes, it's crowded, but I try to get there earlier in the morning - plus I usually farm with my bard, and he smokes anyone out there in terms of speed~

Spiders are about level 25? I guess? And can drop about 7 or 8 silks at most...

Though you'll sometimes find those stingey spiders that only drop a giant wood spider femur. To them i say 'lol i meen com on flks, am i rite//?'
