Where to Solo at 51Follow

#1 Jun 20 2004 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
I am a level 51 DE Shadow knight. I am starting to find that it is hard to find a group to join on my server (The Rathe), thus I spend alot of my time goofing off doing nothing. Where would a good place for me to go and solo be? I have been soloing HG's in Rathe Mountains for money but they all con green or light blue to me. Help Please.

Sorry man, but melee classes don't really solo in the 50s. Especially now that the fear cap is 55 it will be tuff. Maybe in maidens eye or dulak you can solo for a bit, but it will be somewhat slow.

You can solo just fine in the grey. Stick close to the temple. If I remember correctly, you can even fear the lower-level named, meaning you'll at least get some loot while at it.

The cash isn't good off each kill, unless you get a great streak of Shissar Scales or a couple named with a few fangs each.

It's xp, though.

Or for painfully slow xp, do aggro kiting in first-tier PoP.

The Hole in Paniel.

Very good experience, and can be soloed from 51 - 54. After 54, the experiece drops off unless you are able to go deeper in, which is quite a bit more difficult. I did this with my Ranger this Spring; if a ranger can solo here, I would believe a Shadow Knight can sing circles around a rangers solo ability in the hole. It will be all straight melee - no room for fear with the adds. Check out this site in the strategy section for good advice for fighting in the Hole.

I would also recommend the Ice Giants in Permafrost. I obtained level 55 and 56 in Permafrost, and am working on a couple of AA's there now at level 56. It takes a little to know how to pull the giants, but once figured out is quite a bit of fun. You can start this at level 52 or so as well.

As a general comment, I found the game so much more difficult at level 50 and above; after hitting it, I realized why all my friends started a ton of alts once they hit the 50's with their mains. All the classes need excellent gear to solo at these levels, but especially the melee classes. I spent several months in the bazaar buying / selling to get upgrades. My ranger plays more like a palidan now, but can solo very well - for a ranger!

Journey far and far well!

PS - Mr.Samatman - thanks for the comments regarding the long dissertation of mine from a couple of weeks ago. I do appreciate the comments.

Lower guk is one of the best SK/Paladin soloing areas in the low 50's in the game. Just stick to the undead side and you should have it made.

Or you can head to Burning woods and fear kite the many undead in that zone.

You can also solo the giants in Burning Woods at the fort. There are usually 2 at the base of the ramp. Fear one. Cast darkness on the other and then fear it and follow casting spears and slashing. I usually have to recast darkness and fear once for a dark blue, so get a KEI before heading out. They drop up to 5 plat each as well as some semi-decent vendor trash.

Its not great xp, but its something to do if you can't find a group or will be on for limited time.

You are at the exact point I stopped soloing my SK

Hmm, me too.

After that I admitted to myself that it was over and I rolled a cleric

Yup!

Exactly how it happend for me, dinged 52 in Dulak kiting the boats. After trying for quite some time to find a zone that I could solo in I gave it up for the group stuff in the planes.

Rolled a cleric up on the other account so I could get back to going solo when I play sick from work.

There are still some zones you can solo in, but IMO you'd get better experience in a group situation seeing as how the mobs hit for far more than you can heal for.

Try Nadox, the lava side, I've been going there since 50 with my shaman and soloing the scorned elements when time doesnt allow for a group or I just feel like soloing. I found the exp to be excellent due to the Zem given to the zone. The mobs are split up enough that you wont aggro the other spawns and you can effectively single pull one at a time with no aggro. Its not the most exciting place to be but its not bad if you need to grind out some exp. Just keep an eye out for the occasional train!!

Seafury Cyclops in Ocean of Tears is good at this level. Decent exp and loot isn't too bad, either.
