It works fine. The main thing about it is that, while it lets you see the zone geography, it doesn't show any mobs or anything which is usually the important part of the zone Smiley: wink As I recall, it doesn't display doors, either.

Anyway, I've used it, it's a neat toy (but not great for spoiler info since there's no mobs) and won't make your computer explode.

EQ Zone Viewer is a third party utility that allows you to... wait for it... view EQ zones Smiley: wink

You don't use it with Everquest, but you can load up zones offline and walk around in them, clip through all, raise yourself far above the ground for an aerial view of the zone, etc. It does not display mobs of any sort (monsters, quest NPCs, merchants, etc). As I said, its spoiler potentials are fairly limited since you usually want to know that there's five zombies in a room waiting to jump you, not that it has a bookcase and a table. Really, it's about the same as looking at a zone map on EQ Atlas except you're walking around through it, not just looking at it.

On the other hand, it's kind of fun for getting a sense of scale and zone construction. Sebilis was fun to look at how twisty and turny the tunnels and passages are as you get deeper and deeper in. The Miragul LDoN dungeons impressed me with how frickin' huge they are, even if it mainly is one long tunnel.

I use it to scope out zones I haven't been to before. Some of us are a bit map challenged, so it's nice having the physical zone to walk through.

I just downloaded it and this is a really neat program. Like Yanari, I am bit-map challanged and this is a fabulous way to check out a zone before making a run through.

I also found it really neat to see how each zone was put together, it was pretty cool to see surefall glade floating in space.

OMG that sounds awesome, does it have all zones like can you mess around in some of the planes?

Yeah. It reads the data out of the zone files in your EQ directory, so whatever you have downloaded/installed is what you can explore. You can even check out Plane of War, the plane that was supposed to go into PoP, wasn't finished in time and was abandoned (though the zone files were still part of the CD).

You can move around, but you don't interact with anything. It's like you're moving a camera moving around the zones.
