Well im wondering,

What are the expansion packs for Everquest?

Because id like to start playing soon.

And instead of just looking around blindly for a bunch of ex. packs.

So do i need to get them all in order to play with all the goodies?

Or do I just need the current one?

Buy EQ evolutions.
That has 5 <i think> of the expansions. After you've been playing a bit, you can decide if you want to purchase the other expansions. Lost Dungeons of Norrath won't affect you until you hit level 20, and GoD won't effect you until about level 50 unless you want to play a berzerker. It might take you 6 hours to get to level 20, or it might take you a month. It just depends on how you play. There are beginning quests in your hometown to get some half-decent armor. There are also mail quests that give experience and coin. All the Zek servers are PvP (they have different versions- some are team, some are free-for-all), Firiona Vie is role playing server, and you can trade just about everything there (most servers have a ton of items that are no drop which means you can't trade or sell them)... Legends is for uber addicts and costs extra to play. Morden Rasp is the newbie preferred server, and there are a ton of people here who are in the guild called aude saphere or something like that. They are all really nice and have encouraged many people to join them on this board. You could probably get the best pointers and tips from them :)

since it was mentioned in this forum what exactly are the benefits of the extra 28 dollars to play legends? (or is it 40 dollars plus the regular 12 dollar fee?)

I have never actually played on the Legends server, but <giggle> legend has it that there's a GM event every couple of hours. They get better quests than what is on the regular servers. I really don't know exactly what it is like since I haven't been, but everything I've heard indicates that it is like an IV feed of crack to an addict... Legends is where you go when your wife leaves with your best friend because you play EQ too much-- or when your kids start referring to you as your toon's name and ask you to mez their teacher for being dumb.

As soon as one can get an adventure stone I'd say GoD would be a handy expansion for non-combat reasons. Not essential, but handy.

Abysmal Sea tradeskilling freebie skill ups, foraging in Natimbi, etc.

Look everyone enough of this everquest talk... you are all not realizing that there is a better game out there called Sacred. Please dont give me trouble for this but www.sacred-game.com is the game site. It is the best game you will ever play. If you love diablo 2 you will love this withn a never dieing passion.

I hated Diablo and Diablo 2. Gave the software after one game play to my friend's kid.
