try elaborating a bit there.... that rant made no sence. ill grant you SoE tech sucks, but. what in the world are you talking about specificaly.

if your CD key is in use, and its NOT yours, then no way they should help you, but if it is your key, and things are fubar, id file a claim with the BBB, and write a letter the Sony corp. headquarters.

He posted on a different thread about buying a new evolutions box and trying to use it and it telling him that key was already in use.

ahh... then he needs to take that box back to the place he purchased the box and have them replace it.

if they refuse, then file 2 complaints to the BBB and write a set of letters to the CEOs of both companies explaining the situation.

he has proof of when he purchased the box set, then if that CD key is in use prior to his purchase date, then SoE has no choice but to either issue a new CD key to him, or refund his money so he can, if he chooses, buy an other unopend box set.

in either case he has the receipt and a right to a valid CD KEY from SoE.

I don't think SOE has to provide him an additional Key - however - that he should take up with geting a new copy from the Store.

SOE however, should do something about the store not watching its products better.

Sorry, but why is Soe required to watch a store and it's products more closely?

agree with Brialla. its not SoE's job (god im defending SoE) to monitor retailers of software. that is mng. and owners responisbilities.

as for providing this guy with a vaild CD key, oh yeah. the key he has that came with his box set should be perma banned as it is stolen, thus illegal, and he should be issued a vaild working key.

he afterall has paid for one, and has the proff of such perchace. thus SoE is legaly obligated to provide the consumer with what they paid for.

its called fair trade and is a federal law. if you perchace something then you are fully entitled to that product/service unless you breach some contract. if this guy/kid/person has perchaced the EQ box set, then that includes a WORKING CD KEY.

it is SoEs responsibility as the provider of both the product and service to issue a working CD key for this individual upon request.

if SoE refuses to do so, then he has a legal case he can take to Federal courts and win. it will cost him more money then it is worth, but he has that right and the law is with him in this case. it will cost SoE ten times in time, and legal fees then it would just to perma ban the CD key for that box set as it is stolen, and provide this individual with a working key.

rather simple. if Tech refuses to see this, and CS does nothing, then he should take action.

1. contact the BBB both local, and in CA were SoE is headquarterd.
2. contact the BBB were ever the headquarters is of the store that is refusing to replace the defective product. yes this product is defective no matter if the CDs work or not. he does not have full access to the use of them.
3. contact the CEO of both companies informing them of your letters to the BBB, and the troubles you have experianced in the attempt to get a vaild working CD KEY.

give it 72hr plus time for the letter to travel, send them ALL certified and registered. this will mandate a signature of acceptance and guarantee of delivery. once you find out the date of delivery, provide each company with 72 business hours to reply. that is 3 work days M-F.

if they fail to provide you with adaquate service, then you can consider taking it to the next step. that will be your local City attorny, mayor office, and state level attorny, and Governers office. again wait 72 business hours for a reply. (in each letter, inform them you are only going to wait 72 business hours or you will take the next step. inform them as to what this step is)

at this point you have a choice to drop it, or contact a personal lawyer.

odds are extreemly high that the contacting of CSR for SoE and or just attempting to replace the box set from the store it was purchased from will do the trick, but you have more options to get things done if need be.

companies dont take lightly to BBB reports when they are in the wrong as is the case with the OP.

Walmart takes everything back if you have the receipt and most times without the receipt.

Someone suggested you return for a refund and go to EBgames which is an excellent suggestion.

You need to understand that many people do and say things to get keys so they don't have to pay for service. A few weeks ago we had a similar person on the board going on about the same thing. In the end when no one would cough up a key code he went away.

If you purchased it as you said then you have no issues. Return it and get another it really can't be much simplier than that.

I disagree. If I buy a toaster from Wal*Mart, go home, and find out someone had opened the box on the Wal*Mart shelf, took out the toaster and filled the box with bricks, that's between me and Wal*Mart, not me and ACME Toaster Co.

ACME sells a toaster to Wal*Mart. ACME is legally obligated to be sure there's a toaster in the box as the sale is between ACME and Wal*Mart.
Wal*Mart sells me a toaster. Wal*Mart is legally obligated to be sure there's a toaster in the box as the sale is between Wal*Mart and myself.

Now replace "toaster" with "valid CD key".

SOE has no way of knowing what CD key was purchased. Hello^3 has proof that he bought a Evolutions set and that's it. He has no proof that CD key 123456789A was the one in the box he had purchased. He could have a receipt for key 987654321B and the jewel case for 123456789A that he bought at a grage sale for all SOE knows since the bar code on each is identical. The store should refund him, but it's not really SOE's problem.

Personally, I'd go to the store, get my money back and buy Evolutions as a download online from the SOE store since you can buy keys direct now since all the files are availble via the patcher now. He already has the files installed, so just use the key from SOE and go to town.
