Still would druids and wizards like to have thier port spells replaced with something new? I think they are happy to have them regardless of PoK stones and whatever else. Yeah it was fun to run through all the old world zones for a while, but after a while it just got very tedious and having to pay someone to port you somewhere was pretty stupid. I never paid for ports as I'd rather walk then pay.

yes I know about the alt+k to mp3 player. While I don't know about mp3 files for sound in some of the zone files that was not really my point. I suppose I over shadowed my real point with the comment about writing in an mp3. My point was that an 11 Meg down load is nothing. I have yet to have a patch take more than 5 minutes to d/l unless it was right after a fresh install or when an new expansion is coming or just came out. The real point is that to say that wav is an outdated format and complain about the time is takes to d/l is redundent because if the d/l speed is a problem then maybe you should upgrade your side so that d/l is not a problem. I personally thing Sony has done a group job all around and maybe just maybe wav was the best format for that file in this case based on what they were hooking it into. But if you really have a problem with the d/l then I tell you what I'll d/l in about 45 seconds and then zip it to 10 Floppy disks so you can keep your old hardware working just fine.

Changes that are bad:
1) New stones to zones already easy to reach via older stones or ports. Some argue this is a good thing, but when I see a level 60...level SIXTY character that doesn't know his way through the warrens (a trip I used to brave at level 20 to get to SBM), that just sickens me. Some of these players couldn't find their own *** without an appropriate PoK stone.

Everquest is a huge game. Don't assume that everyone does or knows the same things that you do. Also if people don't know things that you do, don't assume that they're stupid, or lazy. They just happened to take a different path than you did.

Exactly why does it sicken you that people don't have the layout of the warrens memorized? Are you assuming that it's impossible to level without going to SBM or Gunthak? Or are you forgetting that LoY is a fairly recent expansion and there is plenty of content other than those few zones for someone to enjoy.

I'm sure there are plenty of places in the game that you're not familiar with yet. How would you like to be wandering around in a new place and have people running by saying "You don't know your way around Droga? You're such an idiot". Try putting yourself in the other person's situation before you judge someone.

My point was that an 11meg .wav file is a bloated way of sending a sound file. Especially since the game already uses .mp3's as a matter of course. It's pretty funny that you keep whining about people not upgrading their connections, but you'll defend SOE using an outdated sound file to the death. Go you!

The books don't bother me or my Wizzy one little bit. I remember too many times spending half my online time every day I played running. And running. And running some more.

I think I parked my Pally and Wizzy in LOIO for several levels each as much because of the distance and time involved in running back out as I did for the XP.

I understand those who see the benefit of running the zones as a tool to learn the world better. But it was such a time sink. I ran West Karana so many times working my faction for my Soulfire quest that I felt like just giving up at times.

There's downside to easy transport, sure. But at least now I spend most of my time killing mobs or doing quests instead of GETTING to the mobs or quests.

I remember having to play anon all the time with my druid or it was constant tells from people all over the map saying hiya can you come port me I am in Lguk and want to go to Butcherblock, meanwhile I am Droga, gah enough to pull your hair out.

But I will say on the plus side sometimes I would be sitting in FV and have someone shout to the zone want TP to EC paying 300pp and I would think sure WTF and pick up some easy coin. But most of the time it just annoyed me to have to do ports.

I remember when it was just kunark/velious out. I dont care what anyone says, I think those were the best EQ days as far as gameplay goes. There was always a sense of danger and often you had to travel through high level zones at low levels. I actually liked sitting in gfay/ec auctioning items and such and looking through people's stuff in trade windows. It all seemed to fit in with the game and what a true fantasy world is like. Now, it seems like SOE is moving into Scifi. The art ever since SOL expansion has gone a completely different direction and makes SOL and Pre-SOL 2 completely different worlds. The gameplay has also taken on a completely monotonous and unchanging stat-fest way of leveling. Click stone, camp spot, die, get rezzed, rinse, repeat. There is no sense of danger because theres always a cleric standing nearby for a rez and corpses now pop at "the graveyard."

I started after SoL came out, but didn't have it. I remember walking from Rivervale to Ak'Anon, stopping, visiting, and binding at every city. There was challenge, things other then hack and slash. I remember Gfay everyone selling stuff. Before there were skills maxed when you made the character ( sense heading). It was better prePoP, and a lot better then Pre-Wayfarers. It has gotten easy, theres no fear of that wisp cause you dont have a magic wep, or being ambushed running to town.

I first started playing when Kunark came out,and played till Pop, then quit for about 6 months. As soon, as I got on, I started a new Toon, started the tutorial and thought "Hey this is nice, Backpack, Bandages, Note, Candle, and Sword already equiped..Then I got the charm and finished the tutor..Looked at the ******* and it was one hell ova charm to get at level 1. I remember back in the EC tunnel when something like that would go for 2k easy. I also remember the time when as a young Dark Elf, I could actually find a group in Nek Forrest to take out the Skells. Unfortunatly nowadays, a lvl 22 with something less than a Blade of Charnage and Windblade is considered "under-geared".
