Good Places to forage for PPFollow

#1 Jun 15 2004 at 6:47 AM Rating: Decent
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows where there is a good place to forage items to sell at the bazaar for a decent amout of PP. So far I have found some alright, but not great places to forage:

MM LDoN - Gargoyle Granite: Best place I know of, granite sells for about 50-75pp a piece and usually I can forage 3 per LDoN if I am lucky. Only problem is, you need a group to do LDoN and can't do it while your LFG.

Plane of Innovation - Clockwork Grease: This can sell from anywhere from 15pp-45pp at bazaar. Fairly easy to forage.

Well these are the two places that I thought of off the top of my head, hopefully some people can add to the list.

You only get 3 per LDoN? I usually get nearly a stack. Are you punchnig the forage button every time it refreshes? What's your skill level?

There's a nice list on EQTraders (think that's where it is.) I'll try to dig it up and post a link.

Other things I can think of are Tufts of Dire Wolf Fur (East Wastes), Justice Fruit (I refuse to call it the other name) from the Plane of Justice, tea leaves in East Karana. Hmm. Only ones I can think of right now.

planar oaks (IIRC) usually sell for around 150pp or so in bazaar. Forage these in Plane of Growth.

Do you have an auto-forage macro? If you do, stop reading. If not, here is a guide that is useful:

1. Choose a hotkey to use. For purposes of the example, I will use HK 5.

2. Determine which ability number forage is for you. Do this by opening the actions box and clicking the second tab from the left - the one that looks like a gauntlet. The boxes are numbered as follows:
1 | 2
3 | 4
5 | 6

For purposes of this example, assume that forage is in the middle, right box, making it ability # 4.

3. Create a social named "Forage." Type the following on each of the lines:

/doability 4
/pause 5
/autoinventory

Place the social in hotkey 5.**

4. Open the options tab at the top of your screen (second button from the left - the one that looks like a nut) and click on the keyboard tab. Choose Macros from the dropdown menu (select category I think it is called). Click under "Alternate" for Hotkey 5 - it should say "press a key." Press your left arrow key.

Thats about it. This should max out your forage in no time, without even thinking about it. You will have food and water to spare and will forage many useful and sellable items. I foraged almost all of my Druid's epic forages just be being in the zone where they dropped.

I hope I got this right as I am doing it from memory. If I am wrong I will edit ASAP.

** IMPORTANT NOTE**

After doing this, all of your alts will perform their own ability 4 when they turn left. It is important to either remove their hotkey, or go back to options, keyboard, macros and turn it off when you log an alt. Do this by clicking in the same spot under alternate and then hitting the number of the hotkey, in this case, 5. I found this out when playing an alt. While turning in Orc Fangs in Qeynos, he turned left. Unfortunately, his #5 hotkey was KICK at the time. Captain Tillam was not amused and promptly killed the unsuspecting Barbarian.

Just put something useless in that spot, like sense heading, and you'll be fine.

Cool thanx for the info.

I don't know my skill lvl, but forage is pretty high up there right now. In LDoN's I get more food/water/crap than gargoyle granites, and usualy only spend 45-60min per dungeon.

I prefer not to auto-forage mainly because I use all of my hotkeys.

Thank you for some tips of where to go to forage.

Well my skill is maxed at 200 and I can forage 1 to about 6 or so per LDON. Mostly roots always lol. I wonder how that works.

Thats about the best forage items I know of also for PP but Sand Verbana (sp?) in NRO ldons sells pretty good too I want to say about 75pp. Also the quartz that is foraged in NRO ldons sells but not as quickly for about 65-90pp

Guv

The stuff in gates of discord can sell for decent plat for a merchant. I get up to aroudn 5pp per hynid meat or turpeta meat, etc.

I hardly ever forage anything good in ldon's. My druids foraged is maxed out and I get about 3 of the good tradeskill items per dungeon.

Doesn't matter if you've used all your hotkeys- double bind it to whatever key you use to go forward, or turn left, etc...

Ok, I went thru 2 LDON's yesterday and didn't get 1 Gargoyle Granite...*sigh*. It's a random process, nothing determines what you'll get except for the fact that you have a better chance of getting Roots than the Granite, this much I know. Don't forget, Vegetables sell well in the marketplace, as well as Ashweed from Lavastorm. Oh yeah, Geodes from LDON can sell for 100PP as well. ;)

Anyone notice that lemming fur is gettign pretty scarce in the bazaar. Did 2 LDONs and did not get any. Nothing for sale in the Bazaar on Brell for the past few nights.

you can also forage planar fruit in plane of justice, it used to have another name, but eq decided they like planar fruit, shrug, it is used in making planar fruit pies(used to be justice fruit pies)you can sell the fruit in baz for about 15-25pp each, depending on the price pies are at.

Greetings,

Oak bark from Warslik's Woods, Morning Dew from the Faydarks, Sylvan Berries from Lesser Faydark and Yew Leaves from Wakening Lands will always make you money. Yew leaves and oak bark used as tannins for Black/Haze Pantherskin and Wood Elf cultural tailored leathers. Sylvan Berries used as a ribbon dye, again by tailors. Morning dew used for High/Wood Elf cultural smithing.

You can also find oak bark as a ground spawn in Butcherblock, and yew leaves on the ground in Wakening Lands.

Hope this helps!

since there has been a listed way to macro forage is there way you can set it to forage whenever it pops up instead of just everytime you turn or whatever?

One thing about foraging in ldons, headline "2 hours of foraging BB got me this stinkin bp"

Ok maybe not, but simple. Here it is. Just invite a few people in a ldon camp to your group with the expressed knowledge that you just need their them to stay in your group til your get an adventure. Get your adventure, They leave adventure you zone into adventure, sit at zone in, 90 minutes to forage, fail adventure and get 30 more mins. Now that is not bad really.

If your pottery/baking skills are up to snuff go forage some Wild Cabbages and Plains Pebbles in North Karana and make Lucky Cabbages https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=15111 . On Luclin* they sell for 80-100pp a piece and cost next to nothing to make. As a follower of Karana you can Imbue the Plains Pebbles yourself.

Otherwise forage GoD zones for GoD tea componets.

Have you considered making Leatherfoot Haversacks https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=14483 ? Most of the stuff needed to make them is either foraged or storebought. The most "pricey" thing needed is a blue diamond, and at level 59 you can hunt in places where they drop alot. My level 54 Druid gets 1-4 of them hunting Natimbi yard trash in the coourse of a couple hours. These bags sell for 5-8k on Luclin* and are in demand.

* the price on your server may vary, of course.

say i set a macro for it to go off everytime i hit my forward key,if i tape down my forward key and go to sleep, will it forage everytime forage re pops?
#26 Jun 19 2004 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
Taping the key won't work because you're not hitting the button...it is already depressed. Get one of those pecking bird things that bob their head every three minutes or whatever :)
