EQ economyFollow

Am I the only trader these days who has gone for about 2 weeks now without making a single sale when I leave my guy in trader all night? I am starting to think that the shrinking EQ population is taking its toll. Most of my wares on trader at night have been various pieces of acrylia for tradeskilling and various hunks of meat for tradeskillers with the occasional okay item if someone lower level than I am needs an upgrade.

I have a feeling when the big guilds left en mass, they took the high level tradeskillers who were buying my stuff instead of farming it themselves. With these peeps gone, I'm not selling anything. Are all you other traders out there being hit with the same?

Tradeskill items are very cyclical. Especially if you are selling components. Every once in a while when a new tradeskill item comes out, you'll have a new way of people leveling up their tradeskills.

PoP was great for people that sold tradeskill components. There were a few quests that involved having all the tradeskills at mox (or close to it). You may have just run into most of the people that want to level up have done so.

a lot of people dont buy tradeskill items because of GoD. In GoD i get a way to take any tradeskill (except research and poison?) to 52 without any cash.

It's summer time. The servers are empty, the boards are empty, everyone's playing outside. Give it a few months and stuff will pick up again :)

After not shopping/selling in the Bazaar for about a month, I came back to see the economy appears rather depressed. Items I used to be consistant low seller on now were selling from multiple vendors for 30% under me. Ornate items that were selling for 60k were now going for 25-30k, etc. I used to sell zombie skins as fast as I could stock them at 9pp, now I dropped my price to 5pp just to be competitive and that's not counting the people selling them 5-10 at a time for 3-4pp each.

Good time to be a buyer though and it raises the purchasing power of those ruby crowns you loot Smiley: grin

I've noticed a downward trend in the bazaar as well.

Personally, I haven't been selling much lately because we've been having lightning storms almost daily where I live. I've lost a router and a cable modem (well, Roadrunner lost a cable modem) to this so far and I'm leery of leaving the PC going when I'm not home or am asleep. And those are the only times I really put stuff up for sale.

But I have made several purchases that were great values. I've been telling myself that people mispriced this stuff, but it may have been an effort to just get some cash flow.

I have also noticed a major change in the economy. Over here on Morden Rasp, the bottom has dropped out on the pricing of many *staples* like bone chips and silks, but at the same time, a lot of mid level items have gone sky high in price. For example, the Centi Shortsword which was consistant at 500-1k has jumped to 2k-4k in the last couple of weeks.

I imagine that the influx of school children loose for the summer is at the root of the shift...

Supply vs. Demand. There's more junk on the market then there are buyers. This is driving the prices of items down a great deal. Plus the money sinks that sony has put in has taken alot of money out of the economy. Since they have fixed the issues with many exploits the plat sellers are prolly having a hard time getting plat (just a guess). I am seeing prices 1/3 of whet they were on alot of stuff. Some items are just stupidly cheap anymore. Keep in mind also things like less people are starting alts cause they plan on playing EQ2 or WoW in a few months. Thus they are not spending the plat on twinks.
