#1 Jun 11 2004 at 9:17 PM Rating: Decent
ok there's that everlooming question that i wanna the answer to: when dual wielding, what is the offhand weapon's delay determined by? your DW skill? your primary weap's delay? any ideas would be appreciated...
also for a warrior... is it better to have 2 quick weaps or 2 high dmg weaps or a quick and a high dmg... thanx in advance

By the delay of the weapon in your left hand. Primary hand has nothing to do with it.

Offhand delay :

Every weapon delay/10 seconds you get an offhand check. The offhand check is vs. your dual wield skill level. You get no damage bonus in offhand, so after you are satisfied with your offhand skill level, all that matters is the dps ratio of your offhand weapon.

In other words, use a fast delay weapon to skill up, and a good ratio (dmg/delay) weapon after that.

Just a quick thing to add to this.

For a warrior, when taking tank duty. Aggro is much more important than DPS. What this means in a DW situation is that your hate is generated by the "possible" damage of the weapon. The swing rate will drive aggro higher than the damage. Good ratio offhand works ok for this, but if you get a decent dmg offhand with a great delay, you'll get more aggro over time.

While I have not personally parsed this myself, I have run a few tests and hold aggro better with a faster offhand. This is the accepted knowledge over at www.thesteelwarrior.org as well.

The difference isn't too too much, but it can be noticible.

Of course, when you aren't on tanking duty...use the best ratio you have while you pretend to be dps. :)
