Haven't a clue what it is and is it disarm traps and locks or is it disarm target in combat?

Thanks

It disarms your opponent if you are successful. If the weapon is non-magic, it will fall to the ground. If it is magic, it will go to inventory. Sadly, mob damage is not related to any weapon they may be using so don't look at this skill as much more than a mild taunt and a novelty.

It also caps at 70 so dont look to disarm many mobs at all.
I trained it up on any mob carrying a weapon.

My understanding was that this only worked on magic weapons in PvP and that it simply didn't disarm mobs with magic weapons?

The main purpose of disarm is not to disarm the mob - which makes precious little difference - but as a taunt. Mobs get upset when you try to take away their shinies.

Well now that you mention it, I can not confirm, from personal experience, that a magic weapon will go to mob inventory. Its only what I heard second hand. I do know for a fact that non magic weapons drop - and the only thing that's good for is preventing the weapon from showing up during loot messages (i.e. useless).

As a SK, my disarm capped at 70 also and I was less than impressed. I stopped trying to disarm anything a long time ago :)

I don't believe I have ever actually disarmed a mob using the ability. But it's just one more tool in my little taunt pack. Smiley: wink

Thanks for the posts.

Well, I went down to SP outside, to practice and knew some gnolls had weapon in hand.

After a zillion tries, got one gnoll to drop his hammer. Yep, it fell to the ground.

Since then have tried Frost Giants, anything that has a weapon in hand with no luck.

Much as I like the thought of fighting and disarming my opponent and getting a magical weapon automatically put into my inventory, I agree with your posts, this ain't going to happen.

disarm is also pretty cool in pvp, cause if the person ur dueling doesnt realise they are no longer wielding a weapon you can kick thier **** while they scratch thier head wondering why they are doing so little dmg (i know this from experiance because this happened to my warrior a long time ago and i never realised...)

Well, if I ever get challenged to a duel, HeHe, will try it.

But what use is another taunt? Am going to cap soon in the regular taunt as is, so why another one.

Hmm I never realized that disarm is a taunt, maybe I ought to not do that every time I BS with my Rogue.

A Pally asking what good another taunt is, would be like a person who's blind in one eye asking what good a second seeing eye would be.

Another taunt is another tool, no matter how small that helps you keep the mob on you and not on your casters, cleric, Rogue, etc..

EVERY taunt of EVERY kind is useful to a Paladin. It's what we do. Unless you're more the healer type or always the off tank.

But even then, if the MT goes down, you need to be able to take charge of aggro. A pally can't have ENOUGH taunt. If they'd let me talk smack to a mob and it worked, I'd have a whole book full of insults to throw.

Just because it looks like you might be a bit confused on this issue: When people say that magic weapons drop into inventory, they mean the mobs inventory, not yours. It will cause the weapon to be moved from the mobs hands (ie: used to beat on you) to the mobs loot pool. It will not ever put it directly into your inventory. Only the pick pockets skill does that (rogue only), and it specifically does not work on equiped items, magic items, no-drop items, or lore items.

I have certainly seen disarm work against mobs. Just not very often. Honestly, since most mob damage is unrelated to the weapon they are wielding, it's really not that important as a way to reduce damage. It really does help a tiny bit with adding agro though. What I typically do is right after hitting taunt, I hit disarm as well. That way if the taunt succeeds, I get top agro, and disarm gives me a bit of extra on top of that. It's not really that big of a deal, but every tiny bit does help...

Basically, Disarm is useless. It knocks the weapon out of a mobs hand, but only about 1 time out of 1000...
I have a 57 pally, and NEVER bother using it. Skill is maxxed out at 70.
