Does anyone here agree with me that it would be awesome if SOE started publishing Evequest Novels kinda like Dragonlance? Just think of the possibilities with all the dungeons and continents in Norrath. I am going to look into this with Sony.

I don't.

I never liked Dragonlance much, after reading a few series. All I can think about is how bad SoE could ***** up something like that.

I had a short Everquest story or two in mind, but I never did anything with it.

Completely depend on the author. The problem with Dragonlance was that Weis & Hickman are superior writers to the rest who tried to flesh out the world. If you had good authors doing a Norrathian themed novel it could turn out well. More likely, they'd have less talented people working on it and it'd be pulp fantasy at best.

The biggest issue I'd forsee would be authors who try to include everything Everquest-y to prove how authentic their novel is. You know, a troupe of completely racially mixed guys go out and talk to every significant NPC, reference every significant mob, etc. Imagine a novelization of WTF Comics. As a comic it works because it's not serious in tone. If it was written as a piece of 'serious' fantasy literature, it'd still be funny -- just not "ha ha" funny.

I hate to tell you this but the well-know children's author R.A. Salvatore is "editing" (ie badging a ghost-written) a series of books set in EQ.

This is the press release

Read them and weep.

Drizz't looked at the mighty giant before him then glanced back at his companions. "Corner tank," he breathed. "CHeal chain pause at 20."
"WTF?" asked Wulfgar. "You're a ranger, not a tank. And we don't even have a cleric."
