Got to Plane of Knowledge, click on the Paineel Stone in the evil section(evil side, south), you zone into Toxxulia Forest, zone into Paineel, zone into The Warrens, make your way through The Warrens to Stonebrunt Mountains, find the big ship (The Abysmal Sea) to the east and click on its door. You will be in Gulf of Gunthak. Yes you can get a port to Stonbrunt, but running there teaches you how to get there.

Note that depending upon your level, race, and faction this can be a bit of a dangerous trek. You may want to invest in several cloudy potions (invisibility potions) before heading out. Always better to be safe than sorry instead of having to do a corpse run in a new area.

The route through Paineel is pretty straight forward, but the Warrens can be very confusing if you've never been there before (even with the online map). My suggestion would be to go to EQ Atlas and print out all the maps before heading out.

Once you clicked on the door to the ship docked in Stonebrunt, you will be at the lighthouse island on Gunthak. He you can buy invisibility potions for around 10pp, and there is also a soulbinder. Get a bind here...you'll need it.

You will have to swim (or levitate) from the lighthouse to the beach of Gunthak. Note to the wise: absolutely everything here is hostile with some pretty significant aggro radius. Trains are very common. This area is great XP and can be solo'ed, but it definitely is easier with a good group. The hardest thing about the zone is once you are on the beach it can be sometimes very difficult to zone out. If you have a train on you and you go back to the lighthouse, the train will follow you underwater.

If this is a new zone for you...caution is your best friend until you get your bearings.

Or, just wait until they add the PoK stone and then go. It'll be soon.

No!! Are you just guessing or do you have a source for this horrific statement?

It's true, I can't find the link, but it was on the EQ SOE site this morning.

Here you go.

First changes from the Guild Summit

Hey folks,

We have tackled two of the quicker issues and are pushing them to Test for your perusal. Remember that these are the first of many changes and they are concurrent to, not superceding the feedback changes we started last week. We will have more updates from both lists later this week.

- The Plane of Time will now shut down unused and empty instances.

- A portal stone has been added to the Plane of Knowledge to take adventurers to Gunthak.

Please feel free to discuss these changes on the EQ Forums at EQforums.station.sony.com.

I saw the same thing, can't remember where though.

I really liked the fact that it was so remote, the idea of going someplace that not everyone would take the time to get to was very appealing. The ratio of bad:good players there was very nice, and often before the hot spots came along I would be the only one in the whole zone.

Oh well, I guess we'll see what happens to the zone after the stone gets added.

A book for HHK would be kinda nice too.

Thanks for the confirmations.

I also liked the remoteness of these zones, since it limited the number of impatient-kill-kill-kill-now-faster-train-to-dulak-train-to-lighthouse types that flocked to these zone when it first opened.

You know, once you know the way from the Paineel book, it only took about 4 minutes to get to Gunthak anyway. I really would have rather seen a PoK stone to Katta Castellum instead.

Boy, do I agree with this, the run to Gunthak is a cakewalk compared to the run to Katta....

Amen. No offense to anyone here, but if you can't make the run to Gunthak by the time you can group there, you have to be some kind of borderline moron. Paineel is an easy 3 second stroll, the Warrens is all non-aggro green except the King perhaps (and no reason to approach him), then you run east. Getting to Sebilis is more difficult. Hell, getting to Highkeep is arguably more difficult.

I wasn't at the summit, but I find it real hard to believe that Ykesha access was a major concern of the upper tier guilds. Ykesha has been the "forgotten" expansion since release and SOE has been trying desperately to change that. Coincidence that every Ykesha zone is a "Hot spot"? Of course not.

I would just like to say that **** like this new stone is a big reason why I am moving my Druid to another account and leveling up a Beastlord (other good reason is the Bst is for my wife and she like cats...)

I loved to hang out in Nadox and just grind AA. The pp was okay, the AA was steady ( but not great, 1 to 2% AA per kill best case) and there was never anyone around to bother me. I would see the odd two or three toon group looking around. (Hehe was always fun to just start buffing them out of the blue and watch them jump through the roof) I degress.

Stone to Nadox is a BAD idea. period. full stop.

Hmmm... Well, it's sometimes very easy for people who play caster classes to forget how hard it is for some other classes to get to some hunting spots. This goes double for druids/wizards. I've often found myself more then a bit annoyed that many of the "best" hunting spots are far less appealing to my paladin simply due to the time involved to get there.

Um... Having said that. Gunthak is not really one of those spots. As stated above, it's trivially easy to get to if you are high enough level to hunt there in the first place. Sure, us folks without invisibility have to buy cloudy potions to hunt further in the expansion, but there's a vendor right there. How hard is that really?

I would much rather a PoK port to Katta be included as well. That whole part of Luclin is ridiculously hard to get to, especially if you can't invis since you can't even reliably take the "short cut" that is Fungus Grove.

Given the number of people who just decide to train the Dulak and Nadox zonelines, I'd say it must be pretty difficult Smiley: wink

Total agreement from this corner, and I never really did figure out why.

In my opinion, for soloing or single group content I think it's very player friendly. The exp was/is good and the loot was much better than I was finding elsewhere (though not as good now as previous). Also, the areas are separated pretty well in terms of difficulty. It's very easy to figure out the progression.

I won't talk about Ykesha in terms of raiding due to lack of raid experience there.

Well Jophiel I can only speak from my experience. The only time I trained Nadox or Dulak zone was when the invis dropped during my run.

I too want a POK book in twilight sea or tenebrous mnts.

I'm sure for every obnoxious trainer there's ten guys who quietly pass and I never know since they're doing it right. Gunthak does have over its fair share of trainers though.

Nearly every time I've been in Gunthak someone has sent an /ooc "Training Dulak zone from beach".
I've probably been there about 10 times.

*edit- edited out an exaggeration*

I'd expect that mostly it's because it's much cheaper and easier to get a sow then an invis, and the sow lasts longer, and the sow gives you other benefits as well.

But that would just be a guess. I have never even considered just training through Gunthak to get to where I want to go. I started buying invis potions simply because it was a hell of a lot easier then fighting my way through the tunnels with those darn drogmor and their ridiculous regen rates.

But that's just me...

What would the appropriate level be for a group to start hunting in Gunthak?

As a 35 bard untwinked, having grouped with both twinked and not so twinked ranging from a partner to a group of 5, I quiver to think even now of an unknown group of (3) 35 or, no matter their equipment. And personally, I will usually take an untwinked trio on any given day (even just a partner) to a group of of 5 twinks of the same level.

It seems to be a rather easy zone to group in, but it is dangerous enough that a rather basic (to me anyway) hunting plan should be in place.

I grouped with my ranger on the right side (live side) of the beach in the low 30s, soloed the left side (undead) with necro starting mid 30s or so.

Had a feeling it was probably 30s level. In which case the stone does make some sense.

Getting a 30s group there without ports would be something of a time waster and would put a lot of people off. Even though the Warrens are green at 30, they still will aggro en masse and if invis drops you can take quite a beating from the Kings room to the exit. Actually, if my memory is correct at 30 not everything at the Stonebrunt end of the Warrens is green.

Warrens are fine at 30. Aggro from Cave Bat Lord but he seems to aggro on everything anyway (must still be pissed about the hat). There is aggro from some mobs in Stonebrunt depending on class but it was easily outrun.

They may have retuned Warrens aggro. Once green nothing much aggros. I've been levelling in there at 12ish and can walk past green mobs without trouble. I can even fight within range of them without them adding (unless I go to low health). (I was using this tactic to avoid snaring since the mob I was fighting wouldn't run when it had other kobolds close. Fighting behind 2 greens meant they always fought to the last.)

I too enjoyed the "isolation" of LoY. I even derived a certain amount of petty amusement from seeing people shouting "WTB port to Stonebrunt" for 30 or 40 mins in PoK.

Most of the training to Dulak is caused by invis dropping. It is unusual for invissing classes to carry potions to insta-invis and I think people tend to move through there sowed and invised and if it drops they just run and hope. Last night travelling through (without training) I was amazed to see people apparently afk at the Gunthak side of the Dulak Zone in.

I just can't see the point of a book there. They might as well have a single book in PoK that offers you a zone selector dropdown when clicked and takes you to any zone in the game.

What comes next? Book to WW? Book to CS, Book to Ssra?

Inevitably if you take onboard everyone's wishlist in an attempt to "listen" you end up trivialising the content.

Haven't run through from the Kings room since the introduction of the Stonebrunt portal, so it may well have been changed.
