I'm posting this question here for a couple of reasons:

1) I seriously doubt the Multi Game Forum gets enough frequent hits to get properly viewed.
2) Well, quite simply, Alla's is teh r00l3$t, all others are teh sUxx0r$.

That aside, can someone please explain the Sidekick system, or provide a link on info about it? And generally, any real advantages for it.

Basically, after you hit level 10, you can choose to sidekick a player of lesser *levelage* than you. For instance, say you are a level 20, and your friend is a wee lil 5. Normally, you two couldn't group. Well, if you sidekick him, he instantly becomes buffed up to have the offensive and defensive might of a level 19 (I'm pretty sure it's one level below the sidekicker). The sidekick still gains experience as if he were level 5 (No powerleveling) but it allows for people with large level gaps to still play together. It's an ingenious lil feature, and I'd love to see other games adopt it.

One note, I've never sidekicked before. This is just what I have seen from other forums, and what I've been told from other players, so if anyone sees something wrong, please feel free to correct me :) But I'm almost positive this is how it works.

So they fight at a comparable level, but gain xp as if they were fighting a mob their level? That's ******' genius!

Seriously. No sarcasm there.

Yes, it is :) It's one of those things where ya go "Doh, why didn't I think of that!"

Page 96-97 of the CoH manual has some more information on this if you want to peruse if, and if you can't find your manual, I can type out the information that's there. :)

it brings you up to their level.

my blaster is now level 9, and i was SK(side kicked) by a 14th defender the other night. i faught as a level 14 for the night.

it does have a distance range and you get msg telling you that you are getting to far away from your mentor, or you are out of range and your mentor is no longer helping you (then a note you are now fighting as your current level), and same thing goes when you get back in range.

so its not just run up get SK then run off and go fight. its get SK, then go fight with your mentor.

you can also /unsk and not worry about anything. its very awsome feture. an other great power is port friend.

it alows you to instantly port a group mate right next to you. you can form a group from anyplace in the zone /i playername and that will give them an invite into the group. once they are in group you can now port them to you. you can also port target/mobs to you 1 at a time for pulling singles out of groups.

CoH IMHO if you like super heros, this is the game for you. it blows EQ away in a lot of areas. sadly atm no PVP, but that is rumored to come with the first expansion. CoV(city of villians).

That's what I've heard too. That City of Villians was going to come out, become established, then merge the two. Though I hope it's more of a do you wanna duel pvp, and not like the pvp servers for EQ where you can just randomly gack someone.

But yes, I'm having ********* of fun with my Mutant Tanker Brikk House on the Virtue server. Smiley: grin

from what ive read it is going to start out as a duel only pvp, but i would venture a guess that there will be enough demand for a true villian vs good guy server that will be a PvP server.

i hope there is a true pvp server created by the expansion. i like both coop, duel, and pure pvp in a game and like the option of chosing what flavor i want to play that day.

that is one of the things i really like about DAoC.
