You can go to your bank and get a check card. It works just like a credit card, but all purchases come directly out of your checking account. If you don't have a checking account, you can get a secured credit card which means that your limit is however much you put into it. So, if you put $250 into it, that's your credit limit. If you put $10 into it, that's your credit limit. There are lots of ways to protect yourself if you feel the need to get a credit card. You can call the credit card company, as the above post states, and tell them to keep your limit at $100 until you tell them differently.
