I guess this isn't my morning for playing MMO's. Was gonna get on EQ to see if anyone I knew was on. But noooo. Three hour downtime for maitainence.

Got on City of Heroes to tool around with my Tanker. But noooo. +/-Two hour downtime for maintainence.

Seriously yall. . . What type of maintainence goes on for this kind of crap? It frustrates me that I just have to sit idly by like this. However, usually it helps if I know what is going on.

I always keep a couple single player games installed for those very occasions ;)

Welllll, since we have so many players that gripe constantly about the state of EQ, they really should take it down for a few weeks each time they patch to make sure things went in the way they thought they should.

Yeah, they ran it on the test server, but since the live servers are a new environment, they really need time to test everything thoroughly. You know, now that I think about it, it's such a large world, there's no real way to test everything in just a couple of weeks. What was I thinking? They should go back to beta. After all, EQ isn't a finished product.

My sarcasm aside, c'mon, give the techies a break. They have these machines running 24/7 for days and weeks at a time. It's a lot better to have scheduled maintenance than 'Holy snikey! The server just died. I wonder if the last backup had all of my recent loot and exp?' Jeezus, I wish my company did scheduled maintenance on their equipment like SOE does on their servers. It's announced and it happens in a time frame that is not entirely unrelated to the one announced. It'll be over after a while.
