Vacation (for Aude Sapere)Follow

Just to let yall know, this is being posted on the Aude Sapere Members Forum as well as Allakhazam's EQ Forum.

Due to the fact that EQ is really working my last nerve with a lot of things, I am going to take a temporary hiatus from the game.

I do promise this, I am going to get as many people tagged as possible. Mulamen is going to be co-leader of the guild and has agreed to help out (even more) with the goings-on. I'm not going to leave until we get the approprate officer status figured out. That part is only fair.

To be completely honest, there may even be a chance that I'll completely leave EQ. Though truthfully, I'm not sure. I'm just kinda burnt out on EQ and it's *********

I really feel like an *** for saying all this; especially when all of yall depended on me to get this guild started. And now I can't help but think that yall will think I'm jumping ship. I'm sorry if yall feel that way, but that's kinda the point of me taking the hiatus after we get the ball rolling.

But on the other hand, this guild is supposed to be about relaxation anyway. I dunno, maybe I'm just blabbering right now.

But the whole point is, I'm sorry for being away, but between work and not having the right to tell my roomie to get off his own comp, I haven't been able to get any decent time on. I'll make sure that everyone on the Roster is in Sohai's (GL) Friends list so we can get to taggin'.

Glad to see you posted this. It was becoming apparent and I wondered how the members were taking it.

One suggestion though would be to pass over the GL as soon as you have enough tagged. It is very damaging to a guild to have an MIA GL. Even if you have an understanding that you'll get it back if/when you get back into EQ it is much better that the GL is hands-on.

Also on a practical level it needs an in-game GL to manage officers. An absent one just doesn't work.

Just a suggestion from a friendly onlooker but believe me SoC taught me that absentee GLs are not good for the guild.

Agreed -- Absent GL's are death for a guild. Officers feel put upon and members get insulted. If you want to break from EQ for a bit (I've done it a couple times; it's good to take a step back now and then) go for it, but hand over leadership and don't let the guild suffer for it. People are a lot more understanding with a GL (or ex-GL) who's upfront about needing a break to avoid total burnout than they are with one who just drops off the face of the earth and leaves everyone hanging.

Well, all I can say is that you'll be welcome at Aude Sapere any time you wish to return, PJ. Until then, I hope you continue to post here.

It's crunch time at work for the next couple months, so on most days I'll be playing for like an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner--with longer sessions when I can swing it.
