Well what a busy bee that young Aelwulf English'Oak has been!

Wednesday - Not strictly weekend, but DING 65! My very 1st Level 65 toon! Smiley: clap

Friday - In need of an exp buffer to avoid the dreaded Un-ding, I joined a bunch of friends in Plane of Mischief. A few nice drops and a healthy 10% exp. What a weird zone that is!Smiley: confused

Saturday - As a UK player on a US server, I spent the daytime soloing Nadox, dragging my 45 Beastlord behind me. Very boring, but the BL is now 2/3rd into the level. On the evening I went back to Mischief - after a few traps and dead-ends we got to the Chess Board. Great Exp there (almost 2 AA points on the trip). Smiley: grin

Sunday - A bit of tradeskilling and tedious soloing during the day, then did an all-nighter helping a Guildy with the Cleric epic. From Scratch we got her half way there, so a worthwhile trip. Smiley: smile

Monday - No Work Today! After a couple of hours sleep I joined my son in PoV. Great Exp, but. . Is PoV becoming the new Paludal Caverns? With the crass /OOC's, the trains, the camp stealing and KSing, it's like being level 20 allover again.Smiley: banghead
Still. After a rezz or two I still made 10%AA so worth the trip.

Cattywumpus did pretty well after a slow start this weekend.

Been working on the Iksar Cudgel quest. On Friday I found 845 bone chips on a vendor in the bazaar which put me firmly into Warmly faction with all the scaley ones except the Necros (still dubious to them). Spent the rest of the night in Kurn's camping the Undead Crusader. Ended up with 4 non-lore skulls and the lore skull.

Saturday found me back in Kurn's. After more hours than I care to think about I still didn't have the last skull I needed so I went to Warsliks Woods and camped the parts for the 4th cudgel.

Sunday I was still camping Kurn's with no luck. Early Monday morning I ran into someone who offered to give me the last skull I needed. I made some 10-dose Blood of the Wolf potions for him as a thank you.

Spent the rest of Monday morning camping the 5th and 6th cudgel parts. Still trying to spawn the Coerced Channeller in Dalnir. Everything else is done though. Once I get him to show up I can do the turn-in for the 6th cudgel.

Then it gets hard.

Got 85'd into Plane of Earth and did some ring events. We did the Peregrin one on Tuesday so decided to take the mud fellows one this time.

After a nasty wipe and a horrible corpserun (Yes, consent me twice if you died twice) - only had 2 rogues in the raid - we buffed up and took the big man down.

Another Peregrin run and we were happily bidding on our first elemental bracers, earthen stability belts, rune words and whatnot.

Go Go FN :)

Friday: No EQ. Went out on a date, though, and saw "Shrek 2". Great movie, possibly funnier than the first one.

Saturday: Leveled up my paladin a bit (up to 12), but the going is slow. Trying to get most of his weapon skills up, so I've been soloing more than grouping.

Sunday: Finally got my newbie sword. Also finished the Testimony of Truth quest, a very small part of my epic. Not much else to report.

Dinged AA 72, MGB, and the Elder title on Friday night. Didn't MGB upon returning from BoT since there were only 30 people in PoK at the time.

Had to work on Saturday, and played D&D that night. Don't remember what I did in EQ after that, but it didn't involve an MGB, since I wanted the first time to be "special". Smiley: grin

On Sunday my family guild raided Overlord Ngrub in Torgiran Mines. This guy is a PITA, the first thing he does is proc a mana drain and then a feeblemind. He also translocates pretty much anyone he hits. I got my first MGB usage right then, doing Paragon of Spirit so that we could recover some mana. We actually got him down to 35% before wiping/retreating...only 2 tanks in the raid (including me), which contributed to it I am sure. We've been way too caster-heavy recently, for some reason. In any case, CR went smoothly, our highest rogue recently got SoS which the Overlord can't see through, which was nice. Seems like we need some classes that can Remove Curse with an AA ability to remove the Feeblemind to have a chance on this guy.

After that I MGBed Spiritual Dominion (kitty crack) in PoK and had a good turnout. It was awesome...really, so much fun! I wish I hadn't taken so long to get it, hehe. I logged off to take a rest, came back on in a few hours and found out that AA ability timers continue to count down while you're logged out! That's very nice, I really had no idea. A cleric announced an MGB of Virtue so I added my own to that one. I think I'll be MGBing as much as I can...see if I can get other people to MGB at the same time, hehe.

Duoed in Grieg's End with a wizard friend after that. I decided after saving up 9 AAs for MGB I'd spend some time getting some eye candy AAs, so I got Combat Fury 1, so I can crit now, and I'll get the first levels of the pet flurry and pet crit AAs after that. The dps increases are actually relatively minimal, but it's fun to see, so I think they're worth it. Anything that keeps me amused...

Did a LDoN with my guild after that, kind of a letdown because the average level was under 63 so very little experience and only 34 points instead of 51. But I got an earring which was actually an upgrade, lost some resists but got much better HP, AC, and stats. Worked out well, but nothing compared to the thrill of a 65 high risk one, hehe.

The chanter was 13% away from level 60 after that, so he and his druid wife and I went to the Crypt of Decay to see if we could get some good experience. I died upon accidentally pulling the Greater Corrupted Pusling, and then he died on a 2-pull where root broke (his mez wasn't powerful enough yet to get these guys). We both got rezzed, but although I can tank the gargoyles in BoT, they can be slowed...not these Greater punks. So we moved to the tunnels in PoJ, where the experience wasn't nearly as fast but everything can be slowed and mezzed, and the druid barely needed to heal me. (Still, after I finish with my eye candy AA's I'll be going all into defensive. Well, I might get Suspend Minion too, I've really been wanting it several times recently.) Anyway! Chanter dings 60, scribes KEI and casts it on us, and we get the hell out of there, because it's damn late and I'm at work right now (although more or less a half day).

Kind of an aside--I've been saving up plat to buy a Rotting Eye Mask, to upgrade my Mask of Flourishing Fungus. I finally got enough last night (I keep buying other things, or lending people money), and then I realized that I'd be spending 20k on an item that really isn't that much of an upgrade! I'd be better served getting a LDoN face item, it seems, although I have 3.5k points worth of items I want to buy and only 800 points saved up, so it's going to be a long time before I get to that. Still...it made me realize that I'm really reaching the point of diminishing returns on my gear. I was going to wait on upgrading some of my really crappy stuff until I got the LDoN items, but then I changed those plans to go the weapon path instead. I'll upgrade my slots that don't have any +hp on them, but that's about the farthest I'll go. I might take some plat down to Sol A and buy some of the 100% WR bags.

Ack, this is probably more of a journal entry than a Weekend Update. Sorry about that...I get verbose when the boss isn't around and I'm supposed to be working.

Game on,

The Oneiromancer

Didn't play much EQ this weekend. Took my necro to EW, decided to kill Ulthorks and try to get tusks to turn in for gems in CS. Halfway there decided to kill some dorfs but lagged out for a minute, got disconnected, logged back in to PoK naked. Stuck around for some MGB buffs, went and got my body back. That's pretty much it.

No EQ to speak of for me this Holiday weekend. A small but pressing medical emergency and numerous familial obligations left me with nothing up but my trader for four days running.

The good news is that I made lots of money...

The bad news is that I REALLY wanted to play this weekend!

So sad... So sad...

BTW - Congrats to Nobby on the BIG DING!!!

Decent 3 day weekend for me..

Friday - Finally picked up LDoN. Got off of work at about 12:30am, logged on 30 mins later, and screwed around trying to find a group for a couple hours. Logged off at about noon on saturday 4-0 in LDoN's and dinging 57 :).

Saturday - Logged back in at about 2 for a Fear raid. First time in the zone and I loved it. Wiped on an Ireblind spawn we weren't ready for, but we eventually got our stuff together and took him out, no berserkers on raid tho :(, and took the raid to clear Fright, but my epic piece didn't drop..I did get an upgrade to Blighted Sleeves *shrug*. All in all, good times.

Sunday - No EQ for me

Monday - Back to grinding - Spent a couple hours in Nadox grinding xp, nothing special.

Played a lot of City of Heroes with some ex-guildmates, actually guild mates again now, just in a different game. Fun hanging out with those guys again.

In EQ: helped out with some backflagging raids, nothing very exciting; PL'ed some twinks - one of my good friends in guild started an enchanter for a buff bot, and I started a berserker to tank for him and keep him company while he PLs. Still not really sure what a berserker is for, but I'm sure it'll dawn on me one of these times if I keep playing her.

Got my first 6 AA's for my title and progressed to 61.

Guild took down The Overlord in Torg Mines whom kicked our butts the week before. Revenge was sweet and the drops were nice.

Fought the gater in the cave in Plane of Nightmare with the guild. What a big guy I couldn't even find him at first because he was above me. Probably only reason I lived to see him drop LOL.

Other than XP grind over and over and over.

Congratulations Nobby!
Got Lunor up to 17 and got my Dual Wield.
I know it will stop being this way soon, but I can zone out so much while playing a Beastlord that I'm starting to develop bad habits, such as not paying attention to my HP bar. Luckily this resulted is a completely surprising death, so I got a wake up call about it.
I'm looking forward to being able to get back into LDoNs pretty soon as well.

Lemmee see hrmm..

Saturday day- made an Ogre BL on Morden rasp- decided a BL would duo well with my daughter's paladin and didn't feel like playing a shaman 8) The tutorial just ROCKS and ogre noobie armor is pathetically easy. By a few hours was lvl 5 with a nice charm and full noob armor.

I recall Saturday night doing Vallon zek and Aerin'dar again. Vallon was just fun! But I was bummed out when he didn't drop a Resplendant War Maul :( AD was kinda funny as I was the only healer in my group as a paladin. So right as AD died I gathered everyone (including the wiz who was at 10% and dropping) and spammed 2 group heals as the DOT faded. This saved everyone in my group (go me!) then I turned and found an very angry horde of 5 golems looking to make Paladin Pudding. Needless to say I didn't live long! Did an LDON later that night, was easy-- we really need a "kinda hard" LDON.

Didn't play much sunday (went to Astro's game), Monday we attempted Lord Mithaniel Marr. That room is pretty rough! Got a bunch of adds a few times including some of the Mini Bosses and had to rez up a few times. We finally got the last named (the big frog) killed and started to try LMM split from his 2 kitty friends. Well somehow he aggro'd on us while pathing back and SPLAT we whipe. Ah well next time....
I did win a rune from that raid and got copy #4 of Root woot!

Did a few LDoN's and finally got enough points for my Summoner's Boon augSmiley: yippee
Ground out a few more AA's in BoT, only 6 more till I get my class title.Smiley: drool2
Wiped again to MB (third time now), I'm really starting to hate that guy. Had the spiders well under control this time, but we just didn't have enough dps to take him out, wiped a 5%. Not too bad for a pick-up raid.

Yes its late in the week, but Im posting anyway.

Friday to Monday was spent at Balticon 38 the Md. Regional SF convention where I and Elne Clare helped out in the art show.
Writer guest was Lois Bujold and I was able to spend a few minuites talking with her one on one. Filk guest of honor was Heather Alexander and I loved listening to her play.
Got Sick early Saturday AM (Elne had the bug earlier in the week.) So didnt spend a lot of time at the con on Saturday.
Got into Eq for 4 hours instead and got the 2 snow griffin eggs I needed to complete the 3rd coldain shawl quest. This time I was able to make the meal.
Did the turn in on Monday eve after coming home from con. Spent other time starting my pottery skill ups.

Next year Balticon 39 will again be held on Memorial Day weekend. Guest of honor is Stephen L. Barnes. see www.balticon.org for more info.

VERY late in the week...
My last weekend with my wife outta town, so I was planning on a good amount of EQ, as well as going to the beach, doing some fishing, Renaissance Faire - weather fantastic! Instead, I was home almost the entire time, since I WAS GROUNDED!!! Why was I, at 49 years old, grounded?

Because my stepson's grades came in the mail on Thursday, and with 2 weeks to go in the school year, he was sitting on 2 C's and a D in his core classes (junior in HS). Missing assignments and carelessness led to the problems, and then his attitiude of "it's not my fault" got him grounded by his mom, 2000 miles away, so that he could work on his school work ALL weekend. And guess who was in charge of making sure he completed everything and helping him with Chem and Math? ...sigh...

Well, we DID get in some EQ in the evenings... Found out that I shouldn't rely on my 3-year old manual, that I've been missing some rather beneficial pally and ranger spells. My Level 18 alt cleric got invited into a guild different from my pally, ranger, and bard. This could get confusing...

Tried to solo at the Tower of Frozen Shadow with my 33 pally - trouble, BIG time... The Shadow Guardians just outside in the Iceclad Ocean did me in as I was trying to enter. My corpse run was pitiful - it was stuck in the wall, and the fool Guardian things wouldn't let me be. Needed assistance from a guild-mate to draw the Guardians away so that I could grab my corpse without being pounded on.

And now, Wife o' Mine is back - I'm glad, 'cause I missed her (her mom died and she had MANY details to attend to) - but not much EQ for a while...
#23 Jun 03 2004 at 1:31 PM Rating: Decent
The entrance to ToFS is a pain the first time you get there isn't it? Last time I went there I didn't know you had to click to enter, so I was stuck in the wall as well with about 7 snow guardians pounding on me. I then proceeded to go in and promptly kill the placeholder for the gnoll that drops the key, yay luck, except I hadn't planned on that happening and was fighting off 2 other skeletons at the time... so I died. Strangely enough I want to go back.

Hehe Really Really late in the week but what the heck.

Gratz on the lvl 65 btw. :)

Ok on Friday night we went to COM with a few guildies trying to get my Jade reaver...almost a total mess, had an iskar with us that all the red cons tended to want for dinner...so after he died a few times we called it a night and no reaver:(

Saturday - put a couple LDoN's together and found a new cleric friend and SK friend. Always good to have another cleric for a friend :P Those ldon's were messy but we got through them. EBay'ers really tick me off sometimes lol

Sunday - Got my Earring of the Solstice and Protection of the Cabbage spell Woot (only level 56 right now). Oh yea and dinged 56. Also finished my 4th shawl quest working on 5 now. Man finding that dwarf gave me tons of trouble. Looked for him for DAYS on end...got ambushed by the Death Squad bout 100 times and died once :( Had some friends come help me and wham there he was, we weren't there 5 mins and he popped...oh well least I finally got him.
Now off to kill spiders for the next month getting threads lol

All in all good weekend.

Guvwenea 56th lvl druid

of course, with pofire minis almost always up on our server, and numerous other loot droppers, PoEa and PoEb are barely ever touched unless someone wants to do arbiter -- which they didn't do. people who want to get to time don't need to do poe rings, except to spawn the arbiter.
