For the past several days, I am unable to catch fish in the Abysmal Sea. No matter how close to the water I get without falling in, it responds "Trying to catch land sharks....". I am kinda disappointed as I bought the expansion specifically for this purpose to catch tuna and crab for my baking skill I'm working on. Does anyone have any suggestions? Have you fished there recently without any problems?? I've contacted an in-game GM, left a message in the new Customer Service screen. No one seems to be able to help except reporting it as a bug. And speaking of reporting a bug in gameplay..how do you know it was looked into and fixed if there was a problem. Thank you for your time in helping try to figure this out. Happy hunting!

I think there is only one place that you can fish from successfully and that's near the launch where the boat arrives. the rest is too far away from the water.

I am on the pier where there is an NPC fisherman and some fish hanging up to dry. Still no luck fishing. Anyone try fishing there recently??
Since I'm all decked out in my fishing gear currently, after a long night's Cod fishin' trip, I'll go check right now, and edit this post once I've tried :)
EDIT - Well...I just went there and tried, and sadly it seems like it's true. I tried in just about every spot possible. I even tried to fish whilst hovering over the water using Spirit of Eagle, but it appears a bug has afflicted that too. Normally, SoE allows you to walk on water. It's one of my favorite pastimes. I sunk right in here :( Same happened in Lake Rathe the other day too, but other places like Cobalt Scar, it works as it usually does. Something's very fishy! Indeed.
I sent in a nice long bug report, and would encourage any who this has affected to do the same. Hopefully something will be done soon. I like fishing there :(

i cant help you with abysmal sea but you can catch tuna and crab in natimbi just watch you dont get jumped by mobs
You can fish while invised so just invis up if you can and fish in natimbi. There was a nice spot to fish in abysmal that not many knew of. Alot the zoneline there were buoy's you could stand on these and fish. You had to run pff the deck of the ship with some sort of lev to get on them but it was a really peacful spot.
I actually enjoyed fishing on the bouys myself when I was raising baking awhile back. I tried it today whilst doing my tests and I sunk so fast I ended up in the water well before i reached them. SoE's definitely messed up in that zone, as well as the normal fishing spot. Not to mention Levi-fishing. FUBAR in the biggest way. /sigh

Anyone try to fish in the Abysmal Sea this week? I'm still having the same problem of "Trying catch land sharks..perhaps". I sent a bug to SOE hoping they will fix soon. If anyone has trouble, can you please report the bug too? Hopefully the more people report it..the problem will get fixed sooner. I miss fishing for tuna and crab as I use these items in baking recipes :( Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Darriella
well,I *would* send a bug report, except for the fact that bug report have *NEVER* worked for me. I hit the bug button, the screen comes up, and I cannot type in the problem. Ever.

I was in the Ocean of Tears last night, singing my song of travel. It ususaly keeps me above the water but I sunk and ended up swimming instead. I thought maybe it was a glitch but after reading this post I think it might have been a bug. I was planning to use levitate to lure Quag off the island to get his horn. In light of what you have all said and my own experience, maybe I can wait a bit for that Epic drop. :-)
