Soloing an Ogre BeastlordFollow

#1 May 25 2004 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
Hello,

Forgive my post, but I am new to this game. I am working on learning the areas. I normally play with my family, but they're not always available. I have started an ogre beastlord and I am up to level 10. I have tried to find a Solo'ing guide for an orge beastlord, but all I have found is this.
It gives me a general area to go, but I can't seem to find where in the zone the creatures he's talking about are at. If someone has a good way and place to solo my Ogre Beastlord, could you please post it here or email me? My email is kainsplace@hotmail.com

Thanks

Kain

I don't mean to be rude, but at level 10 all you need to to is summon the pet, give it's proc, then go kill something even or blue. Beastlord is a pretty straightforward and easy class to play until you get to higher levels then you will have to stratagize a bit more or group.

unfortunately I do not have a link for a BL player strategy. here a few tips though - hope it helps nevertheless.

1 - your friend is this chart here (found at the left hand side of this page: Zones/levels there you can determine in general where you can hunt. beware of faction though. remember, you are an evil character.
2 - if you do not have the Legacy of Ykesha expansion (because of the maps), then get the maps at eqatlas.com and print them.
3 - watch your defense skill... it only goes up when the mobs attack you (and not your pet) - it's an innate skill, so it cannot be raised using skillpoints. that's why you should tank them mobs as long as you can yourself.
4 - wander around and check, where you can find them mobs. some move constantly, so nobody can say where they are exactly.
5 - you could try soloing in Crushbone (CB) or Paludal Cavern (PC).
6 - remember the /who, /ooc and /tell commands. ask people nicely, and you'll get an answer quickly (most times anyway).

good luck Smiley: smile

That guide is suggesting going through Hollowshade Moor to get to Paludal Caverns. Check EQAtlas for maps to get you there.

Well, at level ten, you can effectively solo in plenty of places. I would recommend shadeweaver's thicket because I just love Luclin. You will not be KOS (Kill on Sight to the guards) there, and there are plenty of mobs your level. If you are worried about making money for your next spells, you can hunt skeletons for their bone chips, shadeling silks, and even some swirling shadows. You can also hunt hoppers for their hides. You will want to sell these things in the bazaar- do not sell to vendors. There are also some fairly easy camps full of Loda Kai (humans) with skeleton place holders. At lvl 10, my Dark Elf Necro owned these camps without having to sit around and wait on pops. I stayed there until lvl 12, and then I went to Kurn's Tower.

To get to Shadeweaver's, go to the Plane of Knowledge (PoK), and go through the Shar Vahl stone. This will take you right into the Shadeweaver's Thicket. The Loda Kai camp is off the beaten path, but you'll find it if you wander up and down the zone close to the tunnels.

Once you get bored of Shadeweaver's, I would recommend Kurn's Tower. To get to Kurn's Tower, you need to go back to PoK and take the Cabilis stone. This will take you to the Field of Bone. You need to run north until you get to a pit. Skirt the pit until you find a place where you can get in without jumping to your death. Then, skirt the edge of the pit to avoid picking up a train of scorpions and skeletons. Just keep heading north, and you will see a large tower on the horizon. To get into the tower, you will need to run around the base of it until you find the ramp that will take you do the door. Once in Kurn's, you can pull to the entrance, or if someone is there, there is a secret room on the first floor that you can pull to safely. (to get to the room, run stright across the first floor, and turn right when you get to the wall... just keep running along the wall, and you'll pop into the secret room... if you get to the stairs to go down you've gone too far and need to go back)

Stay in Kurn's until level 13-15. You can explore the other levels of Kurn's as you get higher.

Hope this helps. I know how much it sucks not to be able to find a good place to fight. I'm having that problem at level 54, but I have decided I'm just going to have to go exploring. Good Luck~

edited to remind not to sell hides and shadows and bone chips to vendors
