I went to EQ Toolbox and downloaded the "ALL" version. Unzipped it into my C:/Program Files/Sony/EQ/Maps folder. When you look in there all the maps are there. When I log on I still only have maps that came with my EQ CD's. Ex. Frontier Mountains has 1 Graphic and 3 Notepad files in the folder just like POK. I have the POK map but not the Frontier Mountains map. I downloaded the Sony version also so I know they are compatible with the game.

Someone told me to download from EQAtlas which I haven't tried yet.

On a last night, I did reboot and repatch to see if that helped and it didn't.

Anyone got any ideas what I am doing wrong or where I can go to get the maps downloaded and working?

That is where I downloaded the "ALL" and I used the Sony version zip file.

Should I have used the EQ version zip file?

There are two versions of the maps. Can't remember which to use, though I thought it was the Sony version, but you said you used that one. The site tells you which you should use, just make sure you got the right one.

I went to the message board at EQ Tool Box seems many people are having the same issue but not all people. So far the person that runs EQ Toolbox hasn't responded with any ideas to make it work. Many posters have given ideas but they are at best hit and miss for people. Guess I will wait and see if the administrator addresses the problem.

Thanks for you help guys!

Many thanks for the link! Does it include LDoN maps?

It does include the LDoN maps. The maps themselves are pretty accurate, however the mob spawns may not be.

I am having the same problem - I have tried toolbox and EQAtlas and neither one are working for me. I have reloaded each one twice and still no luck. I still have the original map ingame???

No idea. Eveything works fine for me. Are you cleaning out the directory in between attempts?

I never cleaned out anything directories. I downloaded the zip file, unzipped it into the map folders and answered yes to overwrite all existing files.

I finally got around to doing this and I must say it's great having the LDoN maps now. Thanks again for the link.

A couple of weird things though:

1. The Knowledge Portals are missing in a number of the zones. No big deal to add them myself.

2. On the PoK zone map, every transport stone is labeled twice: once above the stone and once below it, each labeling exactly the same. Boy does this make the map cluttered. I thought maybe it had something to do with overwriting the old maps, so I went back and deleted the entire contents of the map folder and re-unzipped the files into the folder again, clean - but the same thing happened. Anyone else find this? Or is it once again a problem that I alone seem to encounter?!

It's there on both my boxes, so it's not just you. On some maps you can disable lables to clear this up. I'm not sure about PoK however, I think I know where things are at so I try not to bring it up there.

OK here's exactly what I did (as best as I can remember):

I clicked on the link as provided above (in my last post, where I quoted it from whoever posted it before). I used the default settings on the web site that comes up - Sony format and zip file. I clicked the "download all maps" button and, on the next screen, clicked on the link for "allmaps_soe.zip". I saved the file to my My Documents folder. I then opened explorer and, after looking around on my hard drive with explorer, located the Maps folder somewhere in program files under Sony/EverQuest. I deleted the entire contents of the Maps folder. I then navigated in explorer to My Documents and right clicked on the downloaded file, extracting the contents to the maps folder in the Sony/EverQuest section of program files. When done like this, it never asks you to overwrite anything since there's nothing in the Maps folder to overwrite. That's about it.

Brian - thanks I just deleted all of the original map files and reloaded (unzipped)the 'allmap' files into my sony/everquest/map folder.

Fingers are crossed that this will work - thanks again!

I tried this last night and it didn't work for clearing up the duplicate lables. Click the layer button, it's either 1 or 2 that removes the extra lables.

Good luck.

Thanks so much for the directions. I am at work but will have my son give it a go, once EQ is up and running.

I will let you all know later today if this worked by deleting all the files.

And it never saves this as your preferred choice, so you have to click on it every single time you zone in. There must be some layer of the map that I can delete because this is the most annoying thing ever. (Well, maybe not, but it is annoying.)

I plan to investigate what to delete tonight when I play and get annoyed with this all over again.

Of course, once I figure this out, and then want to download maps again because there are new zones I want the maps for, it will be starting over at square one.
