I usually play on FV server but couldn't get in for some reason so started a new character on Morden Rasp. Just a human Druid - nothing special there????

BUT Nobody can understand me when I talk! I have sent /ooc messages. I have been in a team. Went to PoK and shouted. NOBODY even answered me unless it was to ask what language I was 'talking' or to say 'I don't understand you'!

What gives! I understand everyone else. I am 'trained' in Common!

This was the most SOLO Experiance I have ever had! With no one to talk to or ask questions from/to! People buffed me and I couldn't even thank them except to /bow to them!

I will probably not play this character that much but like the healing and early buffs = so different from my Barbarian Beastmaster I usually play. But it would be a nice change of pace once in awhile - But I need to be understood - can't even ask to learn a different language!!!

Help would be most appreciated!! Thanks

I also wanted to ask about teaching someone else a new language.

I know I can create a hotbutton - but can't find the way to do that so I can teach the new 'Elvish' I just learned to someone else. (This is on my Barbarian NOT the Human refered to above).

to teach someone a new language you have to be grouped with them then in group say you need to speak to them in that language over and over

Welcome to MR (Morden Rasp). Did you know that there is a brand new guild just getting started on MR and that it is newbie and low lvl character friendly? The guild is named *Aude Sapere* Which is Greek for *Dare To Know*. Please look us up when you play there we'd love to meet you.

Now, on topic...
Is it possible that your character got switched to another language by accident? You should try switching back to common to *reset* that choice and see what that does.

To change languages,
1) Right click on the main chat window
2) Choose language from the list
3) Choose the language you want from that list

Hope this helps and hope to see you round MR.

OldBlue - thanks for the invite! I will check when I log in again. How do I contact someone in that guild when online?

I did check (language in chat) and common is the only language listed - I have checked and checked! Soooo Frustrating!

I had my fingers crossed that in one of my pleas for help someone would answer me and at least let me know what I was speaking! Then I may have been able to 'fix' it.

I am going to log her in again and see if it was some kind of 'glitch' that was corrected on log-out?? (*holding breath and crossing fingers*)

MK - thanks now I see why the same things go by in chat - same words or numbers!! But how do I set a hotbutton for this?

for learning languages I set up a social button with 4 lines of rubbish and a 5th with good words in it. Rubbish because I can't be bothered to type proper words and good words in the last line because whoever you're can tell when they're getting better the clearer the last line is.

To check which language you are currently speaking
type /language
to see which languages are available to you type /language help
to change language type /language[space]# i.e. for common type /language 1

dbridge thanks.

It did seem to be a 'glitch' of somesort - I relogged her and everything was fine!! Go Figure! But it is sooo much nicer to have others understand you when you chat! I can't tell you how frustrating that was!

Thanks again for all the replies and help!

im betting the glitch was due to there not being a "common" language on FV. When you changed servers you would not necessarily switch to the common language. Your files would still have you speaking the language on FV. (Fv is the only server with "Human" to my knowlege.) So that was your problem.
eg
I will often speak barbarian only on my shaman especially in Everfrost. Then when I log on a different toon they are still listed as speaking Barb.

For other Aude Sapere Guild player names, go to this link:

http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=15391&TabID=129884

To join the guild chat channel, create a separate chat window and in the new window, type /join Khazam: nada. After that, go to filters in the new chat window (by right clicking on the top of the new window or on the scroll bar), then select "Chat Channel" and select "Khazam". Hope this helps and we hope to see you there !

Jonwin - I had no idea that the servers were "connected" that way! Great info to remember!

Lady - thanks for that info/link! I look forward to this guild. What is Khazam - if the guild is Aude Sapere? I missed something - sorry. But I will follow your great directions.

Thanks again.

No, you didn't miss a thing... originally the guild was to be called *Disciples Of Allakhazam* in honor of these boards but the name was changed so that we would not infer any actual association with this company. It's a legal thing...

(edit to spelling - will I never learn to spell correctly?)
