From what I gather this is some sort of donation system where I am able to give plat/loot (lore items mainly?) to Tribute Masters (I think that's the correct term) who then keep tally of my points which I am able to use to get gear or upgrades to gear...

If someone could elaborate on this system or throw out a link to somewhere that does, I would greatly appreciate it...

I've been reading over some other forums about equipment and the tribute system comes up alot (i.e. one player said that he maxed out his FT gear via the tribute system)...

Maybe some examples of how some of you have used the Tribute System (i.e. what you turned in and what you primarily focused your points on)...

43 Necro, just dinged...

Thanks in advance

Iirc you can only use the tribute master in your home town.

You give them pp or items and gets tribute points in return. Think it works out to 1pp = 1 tribute point. For common items (fine steel weapons and the general dross that drops) you get as many tribute points as you would pp, if you were to sell it to a merchant, rounded up. Things that sell for less than 1pp are not accepted. Basically, if you want to know how much tribute something is worth, go and see the tribute master.

The tribute points are used to buy buff like effects (additional HP/mana, increases in stats/regen, focus effects, etc) but for cap purposes they are counted as if you are wearing them, ie if you have FT12 there is no point getting an additional 5 points of mana regen as the cap is 15. The cost of the tribute is for every 10 mins that it is active. There is a clock counting down each 10 mins but don't worry about this as it resets automatically and you don't lose the tribute unless you run out of points. Tribute can be cancelled at any time but you have to see the tribute master to get new ones.

Tribute I have used are things like extended range, spell haste and enduring breath. EB tribute is great for underwater zones. If you die you don't lose the EB like you would if you were using an item or if you were using a spell and got a rez you don't have to wait for your mana to regen so you can cast it again.

This Link explains it in a lot of detail.

I understand that there are more Tribute Masters (and Mistresses) around than it notes and it's comments on tribute value of items are pre-nerf.

The general advice is - don't give them pp, only items.

Something to keep in mind, you go to the Tribute Master to *turn on* your effects. Therefore, the clock starts ticking as soon as you do it. If you're not going to fight straight away, your precious points are wasting away. This can get frustrating for people who are held up for some reason e.g. waiting for a raid to get set up.

The good thing is, you can turn it off no matter where you are.

The toss up you have to make is whether you want to sell items in bazaar and use the pp for something, or hand the items to a Tribute Master for points. Can be a difficult choice sometimes.

p.s. The Tribute Master must be the same race as you, so usually in your home city.

Favorite items for tribute (The Rathe prices)

Greatstaff of Thunder: Usually pick these up for 50-100 in the bazaar, worth 800 tribute.

Ornate Runed Shield: Either pick these up when running around City of Mist or buy them if I see them for less than 300p, worth 1800 tribute.

Architect's Bejeweled Breastplate: Pick these up when I see them for less than 7k, worth 24.5k tribute.

May have values on first two wrong, haven't turned many in since I started using the architect BP's.

Running FT 4 & Regen 8 on my shaman costs about 48ish tribute (29 each I think for level 4) every ten minutes so one BP lasts a few weeks. Run FT4 on my paladin so I can have the paladin regen buff running 24/7, get regen sometimes as well. Good for twink casters to, can get 21% haste for 10 points for training weapon skills without having to juggle SCHW's around. And as said, the EB is great for hunts in places like Kedge or the Grey... don't have to worry about buff falling/getting cancelled or getting EB after a death since it's always on no matter what.
