Are there any worthwhile newbie quest other than the armor quest?
Yes.
Look under Quests by Zone. Choose your Starting area or anywhere nearby and look at the quests that start there or pass through.
Use the Quests by Item to look up things you loot and see if they are part of a quest you can do.
