I have a roommate and he is interested in this game..but he is from Korea!

I was wondering if anyone knew for sure whether or not you can play EQ in the far east.

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes because I've seen a few Japanese players in the game.

You could purchase it online and you could most likely connect to the servers(not sure though), however, lag is the issue.

I have met some Japanese players on my server (Fennin Ro), so I would think that it was possible.

Hope this helps!

Yes, I was a soldier stationed in Korea and played EQ. EQ is readily availible at most markets and already installed on most internet cafe business's. I was stationed at Camp Stanely which is near Uijeongbu-bukbu and could play....curfew providing lol. I experienced no unusual lag while there either. Hope that answers your question.

I do have a question though (cause I'm a bit confused). You mentioned in another thread that you were in a boarding school, and you didn't own a computer, but your roomate did. However, your roomate is Korean, so for some reason you wanted to know if you could get the game in Korea.

Is that a correct recap? If so, I'm confused about something. If the boarding school isn't in Korea, what difference does it make? You go to the local game store, buy the game, install it on the computer, and then connect using whatever ISP you are using.

Or are you in a boarding school in Korea? Dunno. Just asking cause it seemed a bit muddled the way you explained it.

In any case, where you are doesn't matter. If you can purchase and install the software on your computer, and you have an internet connection, then you can play the game. Where you are is relevant only in terms of how much lag you may get. If you are off in the middle of nowhere with a crappy internet connection, you'll have bad lag. But that could happen in Idaho as much as Korea.

I forget which server it is, but one of the older servers has a very large Korean population. At least one Korean guild was Sleepers enabled, so if they are still going are probably in Time now.

We're not allowed to play online games at our school

I go to boarding school in Virginia (hate this state)

I have a computer where I live during the summer (Texas)

He has a computer where he lives (Seoul)

Summer is 3 months long.

We can play over the summer if there is an insignificant amount of lag on his part.
