A List of Go-To Farming Items?Follow

I've neglected my necro...He's approaching lvl44...By the time I hit lvl50 all of my focus items will be obsolete...My int is 205, but my hp/sta are horrid...I've got about 3.5k banked...

I figure that I need to establish a plan to have a significant bankroll to work with for new equipment by the time I hit 50...

The way I figure it, I probably need about 50k to equip myself competitively for that lvl (maybe more? I'm not sure when spells really become a plat factor, feel free to chime in here)...

If anyone can recommend any armor quests that might help to lighten the load of bazaar buys or possible drops which I could handle solo that might be good upgrades that would help...

Also, I've had good luck with the silk trade in the bazaar, I've heard other misc. tradeskill items that are always in demand, but if anyone has a list of "go-to" items that will almost always be in demand, I'd appreciate it if you shared it or tossed a link as to where I might find it...The silk trade seems to have booms and busts and right now its in a bust...I've got 200 spiderling silks, but the price is way below what I'd like to get for em (there are people with hudreds of them selling for less), I know what I've got for them recently and I think I can hold out until the market shifts to a more favorable price, but it's hurting the flow of income ATM...

Rathe HG aren't too bad, but it seems that farming the TS items seems to be more profitable in the long run...

what are you outfitting him with?? 50k at level to be competitive for the class that needs equipment less than any other class in the game....

The mind boggles.

here's a tip, set up a bazaar vendor and sell any tradeskill items that you find, i make about 5k per wekk doing this.

Sand verbena, Gargoyle granite, Goblin bones etc. cost 10pp to buy and sell for 100pp for example.

I get a lot of contradictory information from some of you guys...

You responded and therefore must have read the thread regarding the importance of gear and from what I gather, though it may not be as important as other classes, gear even for a necro can and does have a significant impact on a toon's capabilities...Especially focus items...

And the lvl III and IV (I think those are right, the ones that have their effects on spells up to 60 and 65) focus effect items are what I based my price on, in addition to some equipment to beef up my sta/hp...

Also, I have a mule and I put most tradeskill items I loot/forage up for sale through him...I run across alot of TS items, some are for recipies that never get used, I try to check eqtrader and allah and the bazaar to determine which ones sell frequently, but I though that one of you experienced EQers might have comprised a list (or know where to find one) of the most widely used TS components...

I have a character that has been working on smithing and I've found that there are a couple items that I almost always just go to the bazaar to get.

One is ore. If I can find blocks of acrylia and blocks of regular ore for sale cheaper than NPC merchant prices, I buy 'em every time.

The other thing is leather padding. I don't use padding too often and it's pretty easy to make, but I just hate spending the time farming the required components. If your tailoring is high enough, this might be a good one.

I sort of lucked into a good money maker by making a shaman. I wasn't thinking about it when I created the toon, but once I got up to the mid 40s I started to realize that alchemy was a very lucrative trade.

I've also noticed that the silk trade has fallen off in the last week or so. To make matters worse, the bone chip market has also been soft for the same period of time. This has put a major dent in my cashflow at a time when I am spending money like a drunken sailor! And so I too have begun to look for alternative products.

To that end I have started to stockpile skins and pelts. The HQ and HQ+ market seems to be pretty steady at the moment and since wolf, bear and rockhopper skins are all pretty easy to come by I thought I'd give that a try. I also have a taylor who is about ready to start cranking out handmade backpacks and quivers which seem to sell for a good profit just about as fast as they are offered on my server (MR).

I have one related question. I heard about a quest/turn-in where you can give someone 3 skins and receive 1 of the next higher quality. This seems promising as the lessor pelts all seem to be worth about 20% to 25% of the value of the next grade up. Does anyone know where and to whom this turn-in is?

My suggestion is to start collecting the no drop armor from the Fallen Soldiers in the Umbral plains. Save your cash for your spells 58+ spells. (Your 3 lvl 60 pet spells will cost you over 50K alone.) The Dream Weaver stuff is good armor for a necro, nice int and cha stats. Just find a group in umbral and ask them to pull a few Fallen Soldiers from the left side along the wall. Armor drops are not that uncommon. I think it took me a week to get all the pieces.

Thanks Kelti! You're a doll! I owe you big! As far as lion, the thread attached to the quest detail page says they're not included in the turn-in. But yes, they seem to sell well on MR too.

As an addendum, I've also noticed that the *high end* pelts, the pristine and flawless ones, sell for unbelievable amounts. Over the weekend, I put out a flawless rockhopper for 200 PP just to see what would happen and someone snapped it up in about an hour!

I can't count how many lions I've killed of every kind I've seen, in all of the Karanas. I'm still waiting to get an HQ lion pelt/skin to drop.

I have a certain price that I know "things" will sell for (not the highest by far, very low to moderate), and buy ALL of that item that go up for sale cheaper. Sometimes on certain "things" I will make 1000pp, sometimes 20pp, etc. Some aren't worth it because the "spread" is too low (example high quality bear skins only have about a 20pp spread). Your price range grows as you get more money. You could make money that way in the bazaar if you never left it and did not have a toon feeding your mule items.

People that want to sell fast will sell for very low, and I figure I am their "consignment" shop, give money now and resell slower. Sometimes I am stuck with an item when the market bottoms out, just bank it awile, or take a loss, most of the time I make money. However, I spend huge amounts of time in the bazaar too, so you have to like that part of the game to make it work. If I have decided I want this or that weapon or armor, I may shop for days or weeks to get the best price.

I also have things at high prices that I really don't want to sell unless the profit is too high to turn down.

Now everybody can tell me how greedy I am. However, I have most of my spells and nice equipment (not dream equipment, just nice). I still cannot afford a good horse or drog.

/celebrate on
Just the other day I FINALLY got my part of Yaeth's compendium, pg.73 right and got my remove greater curse spell. Then I had to agonize over if I should sell it or use it, finally decided to mem it, but all that money....

800 points, and I do not do that many LDoN's, I only have a total of 6xx points all spread out, pretty useless items at each camp. For months I was going LD so often I would not join an adventure group. And at first half my adventures were failures because of collects being bugged, and people just getting the hang of it. So I figured I'd hit 800 points about the same time I can afford 50K to buy it.

Well if you group you wont really need much in the way of equipment. If you solo you will need affliction haste and extended range so the mobs don't get within range of you. This is very important in the 50s and especially 60s solo. Don't forget you can always use the tribute master as the focus IV items are mostly no drop. The ones that aren't are limited to primary/secondary/range which really sucks. If you need cash killing hill giants at your level should be easy enough.

Lot of real good info, thanks a bunch guys...

I don't know anything about the Tribute Systeme though, so if anyone wants to elaborate on what exactly it is or throw a link down which does that would be real helpful...

Thanks again...

Focus Items that would overall help you out are

<---Rallicans Steel Bracer, Mage summoned and increases the damage per tick on your dots.

<---Gallenites Sapphire Bracelet, Mage summoned and increases your dd spells

Both of these are good upto level 65. And quite honestly as far as I have seen really fill in a gap that necros have for wrist choices. Not until you can get yourself some silk ornate bracers are there any really decent alternatives.

As for another focus, Mana preservation, There is the Obulus death shroud. Now you could go farm it but you know how drops are not always there when you want then, instead you could do this quest if you have GoD
Kiki's Recipe Book

Between thos three you will be pretty well off for awhile.

Heh, I'm working my way up the ole bazaar ladder doing the same thing on a smaller scale. I wouldn't call it greedy; it's more of a platinum motivation. :) There's nothing wrong with wanting to make money. I believe that is why the bazaar exists. If you and I are willing to spend our time sitting there pawning items to those who want to breeze through quickly, we deserve what reward we can reap. I have never forced a bone chip on anyone. And ANYONE can collect them if they want to or don't like my price. If I had the only skeleton on the whole server locked up in my personal hunting ground, things would be different. But I don't....so Laize Faire.
Sometimes, I give away money, too. If I see a genuine newbie who's out there trying, you can bet he'll get a few pp from me. That's how I got my first 75 pp a few weeks ago (collecting snake scales and fangs for someone) and I haven't forgotten it. Reinvest in the community and all that.

Krikey! I cannot spell at all today.

I've been playing a Gnome Paladin lately and I recently started working on his tinkering skills. The other day I was making mass quantities of spyglasses just trying to get skill-ups. After I had reached the trivial point for those I decided I'd pass a few of them on to my trader mule and try to sell them in the Bazaar. I then did a quick search in Bazaar to see what others were selling their spyglasses for so I would know what to set my price at. That's when I noticed something interesting. I saw several people selling spyglasses from anywhere between 10 and 16 plat. The interesting bit is that I had previously sold a bunch of my completed spyglasses to merchants for nearly 19pp. So I quickly ran around the Bazaar snatching up all those cheap spyglasses, then I turned around and sold them to the local NPC merchant for a pretty nice profit.

Just out of curiosity I checked the Bazaar again this morning to see if anyone else was selling spyglasses and sure enough, I saw 2 people selling them. One had them for 10pp and the other was selling for 12. So once again I did a quick buy and sell and ended up very easily making around 100p. Not a huge ammount of cash but, for less than 3 minutes of my time, I'll take it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that. I sort of lucked into this but it just goes to prove that there are easy ways to make some fast cash in the Bazaar.
