This is one of my "complaints" of the game for newcomers - I mean who actually uses (or ever used) there instcrucion manual for EQ? It's pretty worthless and fails to explain some of the fundamentals of the game...I had a hard time when I first started the game and I had played the PS2 version, so I can imagine how frustrating it would be to take the game with no previous EQ experience at all...
Allahkazam, Casters Realm, and Eqatlas are all great sites (you can find links to all of them from the www.everquestlive.com under the links)...They have a wealth of information though alot of the information geared for newcomers is way out of date...Also, don't forget to ask fellow players in the game for help...
You know, it does seem like that bigass gold box had some books in it with the game CDs...I tossed em straightaway. Of course, I tried reading them a couple of years ago, when I first made an overture towards playing EQ and I KNEW how useless they were. I felt confident that I could make it this time for two reasons:
1. I've got a cousin who lives EQ, and by god, I don't care if it wakes him up when I call him. That's what he gets for raiding til like 7 in the morning.
2. I made up my mind to play the game and get **** accomplished, no matter what. I read websites, I ask people in game, and if all else fails, I just keep banging away at it until I get the result I want (or tell myself I wanted). Shadowbane sucked (anybody wanna buy a couple of accounts?), Horizons blew chunks (anybody wanna buy an account), I already knew Mythic from their pre-DAOC days so I never went there, SWG isn't my cup of tea, I doubt WOW is going to be either, and nothing else I've tried lately really appeals, so SOE is getting my dollars. This is my new hobby, and I'm going to do it well. So there!
I was going to make a point somewhere, but I just lost it. I think the mind wanders after 10 hours or so of 'Allure Death'.....
