Hey yall. Kinda half figured there would be legal/ethical issue with actually having "Allakhazam" in the guild name. While I would love to stick with the DoA theme, the only names I can think of is DoAlla, Apocalypse (which I don't think they would accept b/c of the religious nature), or Anarchy.

While I like those names personally, I also think they sound a bit too "serious", ya know? I would like to stick with something that sounds more laid back like Seekers of Knowledge or Carriers of the Torch.

BTW: Mulamen; Is it just my connection from work, or is the link you posted on the DoA Update thread no longer working?

How about Khazam's Khohorts?

I still kinda like Seeker's of Knowledge or just plain Seeker's. But then again I thought them up, so in my mind's little eye they are perfect Smiley: grin

I posted this on the guild board forum as well, but for those that haven't been yet I went and found some latin phrases that seem to fit.
aude sapere - dare to know
facta, non verba - deeds, not words
mutato nomine - the name being changed
tabula rasa - blank tablet

This one fits very well with the guild "knowledge is power" theme. I actually think that a <Aude Sapere> tag below any toon would look awesome.

Get on it, chop chop!

1) ****. I can't access the site from work for some reason. It incurrs some error and has to restart MIE.

2) Awesome. So, if Alla himself says no to DoA, I take it we're in agreement on Aude Sapere?

Thats my vote.
I don't know if Alla will go for the first choice or not but I think Aude Sapere has a nice ring to it either way.

What's it say when you can't get in to it? Site not found or is it blocked?
#13 May 15 2004 at 10:57 PM Rating: Decent
Just says that MIE has encountered a problem and needs to restart.

Alrighty guys, Aude Sapere sounds like a good backup to DoA. I personally don't think that Alla can legally give us the go-ahead, so plan on AS.

Now we just have to work out the nitty-gritty of things like leadership, officers, and different classes. We can't have 10 rangers, a cleric and a wizard.

I've already got a shaman started, but I can easily re-roll for any class that we really need. All I ask is to not play an enchanter/wiz; I can't abide the constant med, or the inability to solo.

Infact, look for a thread soon to start handing out classes.

I'd be willing to start a class that is needed. None of my toons are anywhere in level. If you see a defficiency in the guild roster, let me know. I'll fill it.

I like <Aude Sapere> too. Just thinking of all the idiot questions in game though. We need a standard reply that is cryptic enough yet with a hint of superiority...

e.g.

Ignorantmass says "Hey dood whats Ade Saper meen?"
ASmember says "Do you dare to know? Begone fool!"

If they want to join they need to ask a guildy: "I dare to know!"

Because when you log out you "Au Desapere" . Sorry.

This is why I favoured < Wityp >

d00d: "Wazzat mean then"
Answer: "What's it to you pratface?"

Latin always sounds so pretentious and "Look how smart I am!"ish

<Ephemeral Revelation>

<Inchoate Omnipotence>

<Symposium of Cognition>

<Sexxah ***********

<Entropy>

<At Least It's Better Than Soloing>

<Nekkid Wood Elf Cyborz Ten Plat>

<Will Work For Food>

And my personal favorite,

<This Space For Rent>

(Don't bother pointing out the irony of calling latin pretentious and then throwing out a ton of words seldom seen outside the SATs... They happen to be some of my favorite words.)

*Tries to cast FIR3 on a mob already slain.*
-Ineffective-
Man, I hated that.

I don't think that's Latin. All of those words are in the English language, but the Lamen's translation is "Conference of Thinking".

I didn't say the examples I offered were latin, I just made up some names using words I happen to like. A latin name was proposed earlier...

Symposium of Cognition I sort of saw as saying "A gathering of understanding", we come together, learn from one another, and are the better for it.
